What People are saying

Fair

AIAYKUTon 20/08/2017 22:57

There are different types of restaurants in Gümüşlük. One little bit expensive Mimoza, Melengec type, the other one real cheap between cafe type. Last type is fair type and Siesta is a good example of it.

This is not starting well!!!!

We arrived late last night, Saturday 12th August. We were shown to our apartment but when we looked for bed linen and towels etc, nothing was in our room. I went to reception and was told we would have to wait until today, Sunday for the cleaning staff to arrive. We slept on the sheet with our beach towels over the top of us. We got up this morning and asked another member of staff whom I can only assume she did not understand us as she told me they didn't give this to customers! We went to the beach and for the third time went to reception and after 10 minutes we were brought 2 pillowcases and 2 towels but still no sheets to go over us while we sleep. The member of staff left saying he would return in 5 minutes with 2 sheets. After 30 minutes I went to reception for the 4th time and was promised 2 sheets. Watch this space as really not expecting to receive them before we go home. Glad we bought an extra beach towel each to use as a cover!!

This is our second visit to Gumbet but first visit to Siesta and don't think we will return unless something extraordinary happens in the next few days.

Family holiday

Siesta beach was a good all round apartment block. Swimming pools were great, with plenty of loungers. Bar area was good and bar staff really friendly especially the one called Physco.
At reception the staff were excellent except for the female receptionist who had a bad attitude and very unfriendly towards us.
The one bedroom apartment was good, main bedroom a nice size with air conditioning but the living room with two single beds had none so the kids were boiling. Bathroom a good size with large shower cubicle which was room for two 😊
We booked a massage through the hotel and were disappointed with the masseuse who didn't really seem to know what they were doing and found out we could get it cheaper down the road.
Right by the beach which was lovely apart from a lot of rubbish all around but was cleaned daily. Lots of stalls selling boat trips, be aware, do not go to the closest one to siesta beach along the walkway. His name was Charlie and was very friendly and outgoing, he got us to pay £20 per person, saying we would have no more than 24 people on the boat, 3 toilets, 2 for women and 1 for men. Unlimited drinks throughout which would be brought to us by the staff. Banquet of food with roast chicken. When we were on the boat there was a total of 30, we found out that everyone else had paid £15 each, then we found out there was only 1 Toilet. There was unlimited drinks while the boat was at sea but once docked you couldn't get a drink, plus we had to go and get our own drinks which was no big deal but when you are told you will be waited on you kind of expect it. The food was nice but was no banquet, it was chicken snitzel with salad and pasta. Saying that the boat trip was great. Once we got back I confronted Charlie, who then got aggressive and started pushing me around until my girlfriend stood in between us.
Never had a bad meal whilst we were here, the hotel food was good especially the Cesar salad. A favourite of ours was Mistral bay, excellent food and really good value with excellent staff.

Not clean

jayneharrison95on 15/07/2017 14:44

I have been to Gumbet many times, and cannot fault the resort, i have just returned from staying at the Siesta Beach apartments, and i am so disappointed, air conditioning was limited to the bedrooms only, and the cleaner only visited the rooms every 3 days! this was to NOT to clean the rooms! just to provide clean sheets, and towels.....we emptied our bins as they needed emptying on a daily basis, we called reception every day practically begging for clean towels and sheets!! i would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!!!

Great hotel, good friendly staff an good value

I have revisited the siesta many times now and really can't fault it. The rooms are a good size if you go for a apartment. If you like space a apartment is well recommended. They come fitted with all kitchen wear, kettle, cups plates knifes ect there are camp stove hobs so pots provided. Dinning table, lounge area. With TV an balcony in an lounge. The rooms are cleaned every day and new towels too. If you like a good quite night sleep recommend a room further at the back of the hotel. But bare in mind it's a long-ish walk with two pool areas.... If your fit and healthy it won't be an issue, if your like me an like to be close to your room after a long hot day to collapse into a cool room...then request a room closer to the front pool. There is a hair dryer an TV too, air conditioning is extra along with the safe. I personal have never had a issue with valuables being left around, however insurance will only cover if you have a safe. As the saying goes better to be safe than sorry. The staff are there 24/7 to help if you need anything there happy to help.
There is a Turkish breakfast for bed an breakfast option. With eggs, olives, cheese, tomato cucumber, turkey/hog meat salami and bread. With tea or coffee available. There is also a restaurant menu too where you can order a sunshine English breakfast. Prices are hotel prices so you pay a little more. However it's reasonable so is the lunch an evening menu. If your fussy like me there happy to adapt what you need, where possible of course.
As said there are two pools, a pool table, bar area dance space and fabulous bar staff who will party till early hours. There are Turkish night which is well recommended a fun night to get involved an meet other on holiday with you. The food is amazing with fresh meza's an meats.
The hotel also has a Turkish bath that offers a number of treatments. It's been refurbished an is great. Also well recommend if you've not tried one before.
The hotel is on the beach front so if the pool or beach suits you this place is perfect, just far enough away from the main bar street to sleep but close enough to walk or get the bus to it. Depends on how your abilities allow taxi are so cheap 10-15 lira back from bar street £2/3.
There is a bus that stops outside of hotel an is 3tl for a trip to Bodrum a busy Centre where life is lively all day an night.
The hotel is great for kids an couple friend who are looking for a value for money holiday.
Turkeys season is so quite is such a shame as there's no trouble there. An the government do there best to keep tourist safe with under cover police, police an army in Bodrum makes you feel safer than England!
Always book trips with a local trip operator the holiday company will try sell you trips but you can get a better deal out side just go to a shop on bar street. I book for Ephesus for £30 which was well worth it. With a meal trip to gold Centre an a chance to see some amazing history.
Turkey is a magical place with so much history Bodrum castle, cleopatras bath's. It's a must see!
Again safe are great will help as much as they can. And a great deal for a relaxing or party holiday.
Tip.... Take some mosquito repellent as the second week I was eaten.
Remember drink plenty an a high factor for even is tough to the sun. If you do feel over heated drink a local Aryan it's a salt yoghurt drink which restores your lost fluids.
Well recommended
