We have just spent 7 nights of salsa and partying at the Retro. We paid about £210 for 7 nights full board and for that sort of money you wont get the Ritz. We had a fantastic time drinking cocktails into the early hours for less than £3 at the nightclub. you could eat as much as you wanted and the food was good - again not Michelin 5 stars but plentiful. A stones throw from the beach and a good sized pool if it was cloudy. The whingers should shut up or pay up. At just over £30 a night this hotel is a bargain. David

The hotel is more than what the name indicates, it has actually frozen in time from the 70s, offering the same undisturbed absence of attention to customers or the readiness of the rooms.

The grandiose spaces remind of an era of hope during heavy political conditions, and so do the naturally time tinted windows.

The breakfast offers a real retro feel but has some corner cutting.

The view from the bedrooms are really breathtaking clear onto the lake Balaton, which will somewhat compensate for the low quality of the room without air-conditioning.
Access to the lake is within a quick couple of steps, but in case of bad weather the hotel also offers a large swimming pool and a gym with the best view on the lake... Also perfect for yoga.

For the price of this real retroness, it is certainly good value for money.

Horror hotel

Never seen any place like this.
Run the other way when u see this.
Bathroom is moldy, floor carpets sticks to your shoes. Dont take the shoes off.
Wallpaper starts to come down, elevators dont work, staff is ignorant, no tv in room,
Burn marks from smokers everywhere in this non smoking hotel. Big pices of concrete missing so reebar is showing and rusting. Hotel guests pissing from balcony, kids screaming at night, people throwing garbage from balcony. Beds are a woodenbox with an thin layered stuffing.
Cleaning is non existing. Bathroom smells, Guest parking their car right in the entrance were it is no parking zone.
This is no way near 3 stars. Probably half star.

Please shut this hotel down

Terrible hotel! Don't stay there.

An old lady is "barking" at you once you arrive. Doesnt speak any German or English. No friendliness at all, pure communistic time!

The room: Dirty, the hallway, smelly, no towels or soap at the hotel.

Can't believe that the owner doesn't care at all about this!

Looks like stuck in 1945

Visit only if you wanna experience Europe like it was back in 1945. Really, hotel horrible, rooms small and not clean, no towells in rooms, wallpapar in shower (?!) rude 60 yrs old receprionist, bar not working, not speaking any foreign language... only good thing about this hotel is location on the beach, otherwise definetly 'no go'.
