What People are saying

Service at the restaurant

LouFoxweartravelson 02/04/2017 22:05

Those in the service industries - restaurants and hotels - are possibly conflicted by those who can afford going out versus those who are very poor.
The concept of good customer service is difficult for most in Ghana - having someone return because they're treated well. I see that most restaurant and hotel workers don't smile. It's one of the sad things westerners have to put up with.
I see it also in bank and mobile phone offices. A very low speaking voice as if they're in school and if they don't show respect they'll be punished.

Still one more reminder that no place is perfect.

Watch out for being told the food will be replaced if bad, and then being told Sorry, no replacement.

If they simply respected their customers they wouldn't have bad reviews on places like TripAdvisor. I had a bad experience this evening and was not given a replacement piece of chicken I was promised when I ate dinner last week. After dinner with my wife I had to talk to all their waiters and waitresses, the cashier and hotel desk clerk, even with the security guard. I knew I could let go but I wanted to see how far this 3-star hotel would resist the concept of customer service. The manager wasn't there - maybe that's why.

I'm bringing my world view to their restaurant and I have to let go.

This is a great place to stay for business. Rooms are clean and well service and any problems are dealt with by helpfull friendly staff. The food is not bad. Pizza and steak seem to be the best options. The hotel is very populat on weekends with families. I you have to come to Kumasi i think this is a good choice.

Friendly, helpful staff

A good budget hotel. I stayed for one night and found the staff friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the internet worked well, the lighting was excellent allowing for work and reading. It was not the most comfortable bed, but the extra service of bringing a kettle to my room for coffee because I had to depart before 6am and before the kitchen would open, made up for the bad mattress and indicated a level of service one does not often get in hotels.
Upon arrival, I had a late lunch/early dinner and must highly recommend the pizza, which was excellent (on par with those served at Mama Mia's in Osu, Accra) and the service by the waiter was courteous, helpful and friendly.
Although I did not make use of it, the hotel has a very clean, big pool and the changing rooms at the pool area was clean.
I would recommend this hotel for the business traveler on a budget. It is about 30 - 45 minutes drive from the airport.

Wow wash your hands

Henaba on 28/06/2016 17:25

I have never seen any so called cook pick ones own nose in open view before going to the kitchen, then instead of washing his hands he actually just turns off the faucet the other cook left on without a thought to washing his snot from his sands; speaking of the earlier shift cook, if you are cooking remain in the kitchen and wash your bloody hands when you return. In and out several times, touching this and that, but stays away from the sink. Disgusting hygiene! Simply disgusting!! If you visit this place just drink don't eat.

Stay Away

I want to start by saying that the pizza is amazing, so good we went a second time within a week. The second time we also brought swim wear to use the pool, this is when things went bad. I want to take a second to explain we were with two children (18 months and 13 years). When we arrived there was nobody in the pool so we started swimming. The pool attendant came up to inform us that swimming would cost each adult 20 cedi and children 10 cedi. We got out because we did not want to pay. After we ate our meal we had two bills come to our table, one for the food and the other for swimming. We explained the situation to our server who brought in the pool attendant. He informed us that since the receipt was already printed there was nothing he could do. We then went to another staff who said even if you were to put your foot in they would charge you. We explained this was not communicated to us verbally nor was there any sign about swimming fees. We assumed the issue was resolved since they took the receipt back, but as we left we were stopped by yet another employee with the same receipt. I explained the situation yet again and refused to pay since we were only in the pool for 2 minutes. We were told that if we did not pay they would 'make us pay' when we questioned what that meant they simply restated that implying they would go to whatever force necessary, including violence. We asked to speak to a manager who was even less help. They did not seem phased by their employees threatening the guests, they said there was nowhere in the world where you would not be charged a swimming fee, and when we finally did pay the entire swim fee we notified the manager we would never be back. They simply replied with, "That is okay." I wish this experience was only one bad employee because it is a lovely atmosphere and great pizza (the chicken sandwich was not chicken). However, it was each employee we encountered that refused to help or even hear us out and the owner who sat by idly. Their wifi was out both time we were there (this can be just bad luck). Finally, I want to express my disappointment in the espresso bar. The smoothies we got were terrific, but the coffee was undrinkable. We ordered a hot drink that came room-temperature, we watched them make the drink to find they did not even use their espresso machine.
