One of my favorite places in the world

This was my fourth visit to SS Con Dao. I love this place. Gorgeous clean beach and beautiful sweeping views. A tranquil, peaceful energy. The food continues to be superb (as opposed to SS Ninh Van Bay where it really needs attention). A very nice team and obviously well managed.

After a few days staying at the resort! This was a special couple of days for us for personal reasons and the setting, service and ambiance could not have been more perfect! I would book again without hesitation.
The villas are spacious and have everything you need for an excellent stay. The staff in both restaurants, reception, bar etc are brilliant, attentive and eager to please and the island itself is a place you would want to be stranded on for a while. The food at the Vietnamese restaurant (by the sea) was excellent and the sorbet ice cream during the day a big treat. The welcome at the airport and check in was also faultless, with a cheerful and pleasant GEM (big shout out to Trinh) available to make your stay even more comfortable and answer any question you had.
Kudos to the management (Marisa and Nick, who introduced themselves and where available to ensure everything was as it should be!) and the entire staff for the professional and pleasant service. I have been a fan of the six senses from my first experience in Oman, and this stay has engrained my loyalty!
Idyllic Beach Resort

Due to its remote location, I was not exactly sure what to expect. Much to my delight, the facilities, activities, services, and surrounds exceeded my expectations. As I harp on the mark of any great resort is service, Six Senses Con Dao does not disappoint. From the moment I arrived a vast majority of the staff referred to me by name without having direct contact with me prior. The communication between departments was exceptional and they knew where I was at nearly every point without being overbearing. Back of house operations should never be seen unless unavoidable. When housekeeping knew I was not in my room, as an example, the room was cleaned. My GEM approached me when at breakfast to recap the day of events; and I could go on infinitum. I was introduced to department heads which promoted a family atmosphere. Hands down one of the best managed resorts I have ever been to. Everything in my room was functional and well-appointed. I was in a single beachfront villa which included a plunge pool. Breakfast was diverse and offered numerous types of cuisine. Dinner specials rotated daily and were well prepared. Activity offerings were plentiful and I attempted to take advantage of most: midnight cemetary tour, fish golf, nature walk, chef cooking lesson, and all dining options. Daily ice cream is perhaps the most unique touch that was delightful. I really cannot fault any aspect of this resort and believe it will lead to my visiting more Six Senses properties.
Perfect peace and relaxation

Having moved to Saigon three months ago, we were really looking forward to a few nights of pure relaxation, peace, tranquility and clean air at Six Senses - and that's exactly what we got!
Having stayed at the sister Ninh Van Bay property a few years ago, we knew what to expect and we weren't disappointed. And, out of the two, we actully preferred the Con Dao property.
We booked an Ocean View villa, which is set back from the beach. On arrival I was keen to see an Ocean Front villa, in case the view was so much better. However, we actually preferred the Ocean View Villa, feeling that it had more privacy than the Ocean Front and the view was still amazing. The villa and pool were perfect. I was loathed to leave the room! It was a bit of a pain going up and down the stairs sometimes, e.g. when you forgot something - but I loved the upstairs seting area. I would definitely choose the same villa type again. The pool was just heavenly.
We especially enjoyed the food in the Vietnamese By the Market and the breakfast in the main restaurant was fabulous. We also loved sitting at the bar, enjoying the homemade crisps - too nice! Service and staff everywhere were great. I'm sorry but I can't remember the name of one of the men who works behind the bar (but I know he used to work at the Pullman in Saigon) - but he was fantastic! The pool bar area seemed very underused but maybe that was because of the rainy weather. I would've liked to have seen a bit more life there e.g. at sunset time.
Our whole reason for booking Con Dao was for its peace and privacy and we relaxed completely. I did use the gym once and it was very well equipped. I especially appreciated the cool drinks an towels in the fridge! I also loved the bikes for getting around on. Our GEM (I hope I'm right in saying that it was Dennis) was lovely and checked in with us most days.
My only disappointment is that there are no late flights into Con Dao. I was hoping to be able to fly after work on Friday and have some little cheeky weekend getaways from the city. But I guess I'll have to wait for a longer holiday. I'm sure we will return.
Wonderful!

We stayed four nights at this Six Senses resort on the rugged island of Con Son, approx. 45 mins flight from Ho Chi Minh City and it was as wonderful as we could have hoped. The weather could have been a little better, but the complex, the villas, the service and beach location were all outstanding.
Our beach front villa with private pool was impressive. From the very comfortable bed we had an amazing view out to the pool and the ocean beyond through the floor to ceiling glass doors, while the open plan split level wooden villa included a sofa area as well as the bed on the lower level with huge bath, wash basins, WC and additional seating area on the upper level. From there you could access the outside shower area. From the front you can access the wonderful stretch of beach via your own private stairs.
The resort is over a kilometre in length so each villa has its own bikes for getting around, with the entrance, reception, restaurants etc. all at one end (and the spa at the other) though the pull of walking along the beach is hard to resist. You can also request buggy transport around the resort if cycling or walking are not your preferred transport options!
The service across the resort is outstanding with your designated Guest Experience Manager (‘GEM’) available to help all your queries and requests at most sensible times of the day. The English of the vast majority of the team is pretty impressive although there obviously can be some difficulties (especially with my North East of England accent). There is a weekly schedule of various activities, hosted by the ‘Experience Team’ but our GEM was able to assist with organising a private (stunning) snorkelling trip around some of the other Con Dao islands and a private ‘island historical’ tour which gives a challenging insight into island’s role in the conflicts the country experienced in its recent past
The food options across the resort are also good, with the Vietnamese kitchen offerings excellent. There is also a separate beachside restaurant which offers primarily more Western dishes. Breakfast is also located there with there being a range of both Western and local tasty offerings available at the buffet and a la carte (the Turkish eggs were a favourite!). The bar, with its very comfortable beds, also has a happy hour (or two) each night which we made good use of.
The island is 80% designated national park with there being approx. 6,000 local inhabitants, mostly located in the main Con Son town area. The Six Senses resort is the main hotel on the island but there are others, several catering for the domestic tourism market which has the war cemetery and former prisons as its focus. There are however proposals afoot to vastly increase the number of hotels and develop a supporting infrastructure across the island by 2030, which raises concerns as to the impact on the island’s overall environment and ecosystem. This then raises the question as to whether we, as tourists, are one of the causes of this future risk to the island.
However, returning to the resort, it’s very difficult to find fault but if I had to, perhaps the western cooking in the beachside restaurant could be improved (my two evening main courses there were the least impressive of our stay) while the bar music playlist could do with a bit more variety!
Overall, these minor issues could not detract from a wonderful short stay!
