Great location and fair value

Six South is very modern and right off main street walking distance to Dartmouth Quad and Hanover Inn. It is a fair value in comparison to the Hanover Inn. The room was clean but a bit on the small side. The day we were there the restaurant was not open. The staff was very nice and they do have off street parking if needed.

A lot of potential, but...

This was our first time staying at Six South Street, and it felt like they were still ironing out the kinks in the system. Asking for late check-out at check-in, we were told that we needed to ask in the morning but should ask early as only 6 rooms would be granted a late check-out and only if they weren't too busy. Since it was a random Tuesday night, I figured we were safe on that. When I called at 6:30am, I was told that I couldn't ask until 7am when the day manager arrived. So, at 7am, having now asked three times, I was told that I could have a late check-out: an extra half an hour, 11:30am instead of 11am. That felt like a lot of work (and poor communication) for 30 minutes. Then, in the morning, supposedly enjoying my late morning, someone knocked on the door at 9am. I had the Do Not Disturb sign out so hoped they would go away. When they knocked again, I called out, "No, thank you!" By the third knock, I answered and was greeted with, "Oh, sorry! I thought you had checked out already." Huh??

The location is great and hotel seems nice, but the lack of amenities (like parking) plus a bit of disorganization marred our stay. Hopefully, they can improve because there's definitely a lot of potential for being a top spot!

Very comfortable beds. Quiet. Hotel let us keep luggage there while visiting campus even after check out which was very nice of them. Convenient to drop off area of Dartmouth Shuttle Bus from Boston Airport. We came in around midnight and it was a very quick walk from bus drop off point to the hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at Six South while visiting our daughter at Dartmouth. Perfect location, very friendly staff, and comfortable room. Clean, quiet hotel, which is where we'll stay on all future visits. Highly recommend!

Little things mean a lot

SSS is a perfectly decent modern hotel with a good staff and isn't horribly expensive. Its location is very convenient. In our room we even had a window that could be opened for fresh air! But - a bulb was missing in the lamp by a bedside light (very quickly replaced by maintenance), the buttons for valet, room service, etc. were missing on one of the phones (but present on the other one), and the "salmon and bagel" for breakfast turned out to be a weird bagel sandwich instead of a lox and bagel. I know, picky, picky. On the other hand my wife had scrambled eggs that were fine. I'd probably stay here again.
