Beautiful views of the sea
rhcavon 07/01/2017 02:25We were visiting Kaohsiung on a business-related visit to NSYSU - this hotel is right on campus and has excellent views of the sea. The breakfasts are very good with a good selection of food and again great sea views. The hotel is a little isolated but we found that walking through the NSYSU tunnel and down the street for 10-12 blocks takes you the the Kaohsiung metro station, which gets you everywhere in the city....taxis are another way to get around reasonably. The hotel is widely used for weddings on the weekends - they were interesting to see and ended early (at least compared to US evening weddings) so that noise wasn't a problem. There is a black sand beach there as well. The hotel could use a little updating but it is still a good place to stay.
caught between business and leisure use...
Simon Ton 24/12/2016 01:53SBR is a curious kind of place trapped between fulfilling a number of different missions: beach resort (the beach is actually terrible for those is us used to australian beaches), locale for weddings etc, and business stop over for university conferences etc. It looks quite big, but is actually small - 24 rooms in all - some with a great view, others not (mine had a view over a tatty balcony area and high bamboo). Loved the staff who tried their best - breakfast fine, functional and you can ask for some variety. Good location relative to downtown. Easy to walk to the nearby port and catch the ferry to the island across the bay. So not bad - but not great either for leisure tourists or business.
Musty smelm and outdated room
Shih Hao Yon 15/11/2016 02:27Wish I read the review before I chose the hotel.
There is a musty smell in the room and the reno is very outdated.
For the price I paid, I expect much higher quality of room I stay in.
The breakfast was also horrible as well, the food were cold and very little selection.
Even though it's only 2F, but there was no elavtor and nobody offer to help with the luggage as well.
The bathroom water pressure was very low as well, it was diffcult to shower and flush.
I just love this place
katherinec573on 24/09/2016 19:11I come back to visit the sunset resort year after year usually in July, the hottest month of Kaohsiung. All of this hotel staff work extremely hard to make it a great one even though the building itself is outdated. The breakfast cafe room is getting renovation in July, 2016, therefore I can expect a better cafe experience next year.
A hotel trying to live up to its potential...
Dionysus38on 15/08/2016 13:07The location is great, as this hotel is located right on a black sand beach. It's a 10-min walk from some family friendly sites in Kaohsiung.
The facilities, though, can use much updating. It's a bit too "rustic". Our phone did not work, and the first iron was broken. During our stay, the hotel is renovating several areas, so it looks like at least it's trying to live up to its potential.
But of course, the renovation creates lots of noise after 8am.
The services were great. The staff was quick to assist with any need.
