HAS FIERY SUNBURST MACHINES 4 OF THEM AND OPEN 24/7!!!!!
savemallon 13/06/2017 02:05Might be alittle generous in giving 5 stars, cause not sure where to park a RV just for night and save 17 dollars fee to park at RV park. However all the staff I talked to were pleasant and answered my questions completely. I have only been there twice but this might be my favorite casino even though out of the way, ,mainly cause of two Fiery Sunburst China Shores machines.
Indian Casino
LVOldTimeron 24/05/2017 23:49A nice place to stop when traveling for a moment of relaxation. Good food, and all of the amenities of a casino. Clean, quiet and reasonable large for an Indian Casino with hotel rooms. A varied selection of slot machines for those wishing to gamble.
As pit stops go, keep driving.
Douglas Fon 19/05/2017 02:44On a cross country trip from California back to Iowa, I began looking for a place to stop for the night on night one of a three day trip back home. The billboards for Sky City started out as I was in Arizona, and once I had crossed in to New Mexico decided that was where I was going to bed down for the night.
First off, getting into the place is a bit of a pain. New Mexico for some reason allowed the construction of traffic circles as a means of controlling traffic flow, and there are at least two or three to navigate before getting into the parking lot (not sure on the total, I was dead tired and this was the last thing I wanted to deal with). The next bit of irritation was checking in. The gentleman behind the desk advised that the room rate was $89.99 a night. Considering I had seen about 150 miles worth of intermittent bill boards touting the $69.99 Sunday through Thursday rate I was a bit taken aback. When I pointed the billboard rate out he said "Ah yes, we offer that to our customers who are paying attention to the advertisements." Had I been a bit less tired, I would have hit the road at that point. As it was...
The property itself is a three story affair with a pool and restaurant, plus a couple of small snack bars. The smell is recognizable to anybody who's visited one of the older hotels in downtown las vegas (away from the strip). Mainly that cigarette odor that lingers even after you convert to a non-smoking status that no amount of steam cleaning and sanitizing will get over. The room itself was clean with a small refrigerator and a decent size tube and shower set up.
The one restaurant (The Huwaka) is no better or worse than any other non-Vegas casino restaurant, though dinner (there take on a cheeseburger, clad in fried bread instead of a bun) was pretty forgettable but not awful, and since the room came with free breakfast I figured I'd try it. I've stayed at a Best Western that had a better breakfast with more options (this could be due to the hour I arrived, as it was early, but not a big testimonial to the quality of their food).
The casino itself, full of smoke and with what looked like every person over the age of 65 within 100 miles radius. For those of you looking for a younger crowd or a place to party, this is not it. No one seemed to be winning either, which is not a good sign in a casino. For business travelers there are conference rooms available and a business center, but its not the kind of place I would recommend bring clients. There is a small fitness center on the third floor (and was pretty close to my room, so 321 isn't a bad spot if you plan to get a workout in). There was one weight machine, a treadmill, an eliptical and a recumbant bicycle, which was more than I was expecting.
So there you have it. An okay place to get out of the rain, but speak up or you'll pay more than you should.
Be sure to have a copy of your reservation with you!
RayS488on 10/05/2017 23:38We chose to stay at Sky City on April 30, because we had stayed there before and enjoyed the accommodations, the Cultural Center, the restaurant, and the tour of Acoma Pueblo. This time not so much. I made the reservations online for the standard king size room, including breakfast, fridge, wi-fi etc. as described on the website-same as last time. When we checked in, I asked for our breakfast coupons. The gentleman said "Oh we don't give those out for AARP anymore." When I said my online reservation included breakfast, he said "ok" and gave us the coupons.
However, the room he gave us was on the ground floor. It was very small, a bit shopworn, and had no fridge. We remembered the next morning that we had been on another floor in a much nicer room the time before. When I mentioned all this to a different gentleman at check out, he said, "Oh, they shouldn't have put you on the first floor...sorry about that." Sorry about that? So now we are not sure whether to stay there again on our next trip. Do we have check out the room and complain if the staff puts us in the wrong room because we are AARP? I don't believe AARP would be happy to know that Sky City is doing this. We tried to respond to Sky City's email request that we tell them how we liked our stay....our reply email came back as undeliverable! Guess they don't really want to know.
Not a great place to stop at
Globalcomicon 07/05/2017 00:12Nice casino, clean and bright
