My wife and I stopped at this hotel for two nights on Good Friday and Easter Saturday 2017, and it was okay really.

The check-in was fine, as mentioned the staff seemed to be Polish, nothing wrong with that, they were friendly and informative. The hotel is near the airport, but no noise could be heard from any aircraft. Our room was 126, which seemed to be in an annexe opposite the main entrance. The room was fine, good size and clean, and the TV worked well, the bathroom was of the same standard, with plenty of hot water for a bath.

The distance to main Southend is about 3 miles, so a taxi is required if you are not driving, we didn’t try the food, or bar, as we were visiting friends in Shoeburyness down the road, but the hotel did seem quite empty, so I didn’t see any of the bars open. I did have a look in the dining room, which seemed well equipped.

The bed was comfy and large, and they left tea and coffee making facilities. The décor was a bit mundane, like a musty brown colour, but like I say, it’s okay for a base if you’re not spending too much time there. I didn’t notice any local facilities, such as shops, bars or restaurant’s, but I assume as this is a hotel near the airport, that’s what it’s for really. Not the cheapest hotel in Southend, but certainly not the dearest.

To sum up, it’s an average hotel convenient for Southern Airport, that’s where it ends.

Great One Night Stay

Spent one night here after a late arrival at the airport. Staff was very helpful, attentive to our needs and questions. The quality of the room was above average for the U.K. It was clean amenities acceptable. A breakfast option was available at a reasonable price.

Internet did not extend to the room; was available in lobby and breakfast room.

The hotel is listed as "adjacent" to Southend Airport, while that is true as the crow flies, it is not a walk, though, and the cab ride is pricier than you expect, especially when the late night premium is added.

My fiance and I stayed at skylark for one night while attending a wedding at the same venue. The rooms are spacious but way overpriced and the staff are not very helpful. Not much to say about the hotel except that I will not be returning.

Came here for a football weekend, checked in and had a few drinks at the bar. Quite pricey but we are in Southend. Went back to the rooms, carpet to the rooms needs pulling up- looks like they have had a flood. Rooms was okay. Disappointed that we didn't get bathrobes and slippers like advertised. We went to a boxing event which was great. However when we was in the room the corridors was very loud until early hours of the morning. So if people are wanting a quiet stay it's not for you. Even though it's next to an airport you can't hear a thing. Breakfast was average, continental part was lovely, but full English was cold. So clearly not fresh. Overall I was a good stay and I would come back as the staff are lovely and the area is clean. Although, if people are travelling here, prepare to spend money on taxis as it is quite away from Southend night life etc

Terrible stay

I'm a disgusted with this hotel.. poor staff and had to change rooms twice in one stay.. not only that I layed in bed only to look to tee side to see a lump or dark hair (mine is blonde) poking out from behind the head board of the bed!
