What People are saying

Not Bad.

der27on 21/05/2017 04:29

This was my first time staying at a Sleep Inn, and while I knew it was a more budget oriented motel, I was surprised that it felt a little better than I expected. The room was surprisingly big, and clean as could be. I didn't expect much but if I needed a place to stay off the highway this is a decent choice.

No sleeping in at the Sleep Inn

Because my husband requires a handicap bathroom, we stayed in their handicap room. Unfortunately, the handicap rooms in Niantic only have full size beds -- not king or queen. We paid $139 for one night and $135 the second night for a full size bed which was hard and very uncomfortable. (Between us, we weigh close to 500 pounds and definitely need at least a queen size bed.) It was impossible to regulate the air conditioner/heating unit built into the wall. The bathroom passed the handicap standard with flying colors, but neither one of us slept much. We would have actually been more comfortable sleeping in our car.

The hotel was being renovated and when we pulled up it looked like an abandoned warehouse. However, it got good reviews for cleanliness, so I figured, what the heck. The lobby looked clean, I thought, so far so good. Once we entered the room, the door to the bathroom (sliding door) looked as bad as the outside of the hotel. There was also a dead bug on the bathroom floor....(At least it was dead). The towels were practically like handkerchiefs. The one positive was the bed was truly clean and soft. My room was only cleaned once on my 3 night stay. that was probably due to someone putting and extra do not disturb sign on my door. It wasn't us, ours was hanging inside. The one day my room was clean, they neglected to clean the coffee pot or leave coffee. The toilet paper roll was at the end, that wasn't changed and we were out of tissues. I think I've made my point.

Sleep Inn Niantic

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. There is obvious construction going on the outside of the hotel that we were awoken to on our last day. Nothing like banging and ripping off siding to start your day. This information was never relayed to us prior to booking. Probably should have had discounted rates because of this.

The check in process was easy and the room was nice and clean. However, there started to be issues almost immediately. The shower door seal was terrible and after a shower there was a pool of water on the bathroom floor. The heat did not work, and made a loud clicking noise every time we tried to turn it on. We alerted the desk agent and were immediately switched to a new room. The second room was better and we did not have any issues with the room for the remainder of the trip.

The continental breakfast was so-so. Nothing flashy but just the basics. Same food each day of our stay. Like other reviews, the breakfast area is cramped.

On our last day after breakfast we went up to our room and our key did not work. There was a worker there (housekeeping?) who offered to let us in the room. He was nice, but this is a huge security issue. We could have told him we were staying in any room and he would have let us right in!

On our last day, since checkout is 11 AM, we went to the front desk around 10:45. The place was a ghost town. No one was there to greet us at the front desk, so we took our bags out to the car and came back in. Still nobody. Saw a person mopping the floor and told him we needed to check out. Apparently he was pulling double duty. He was not very friendly and did not ask us if we enjoyed our stay and seemed very unorganized.

Probably will not be staying at this hotel in the future.

Good value

Nice clean hotel with a small pool. Room was a decent size but the bathroom was very small and had a sliding door which wouldn't shut properly ....not ideal !
Breakfast was the usual continental fayre.
