Feeling Conned and Disgusted in Casper by Sleep Inn. SO opposite Re: "Jay L. Really?"

We booked this hotel in advance for our ultimate once-in-a-lifetime total eclipse experience, and were confirmed several times. (The charge was over 3X the usual room charge)

Upon booking we were strongly encouraged to secure a parking spot that would assure us a place to watch the Eclipse: We were told there would be a welcome bag for each of us. There would be food, drinks, souvenirs. and festivities. We could arrive as early as 7AM.This would cost an extra $50.(We later found out that the food, drinks, and souvenirs were were not included in the $50 and were extra to purchase--there were no festivities!)

Arrived at 10:00AM--We were told "NO" we could not check in. After speaking to several confused and not so friendly staff who made several phone calls, we were directed across the parking lot where we received our "Welcome Bag" It contained a booklet and pamphlet (found free all over Casper), a purple wristband, and 2 menus from which we could purchase (cash only) food that they would pick up and deliver to us. Drinks and souvenirs were also available to purchase.

None of the above was within the "Standard Hotel Room rate".Our rate was over $325(3X usual rate) plus the added $50 to park.

After the Eclipse, at approximately 1:45, we went and asked again for our room. We were again told "NO, it would be available at 3, our room was not yet cleaned".. Sitting across from the desk we were horrified to overhear some conversations between incoming guests and the desk clerks.

A man came in and asked for early check in "of course sir". a woman followed and asked for early check in "no room available until 3", another man entered and asked for his room for early check in "of course sir" another woman--"not available until 3". Very eerie feeling of "favoritism"

We then stood at the desk and were finally given our room. We were told to park around the side and walk up the stairs with our luggage to the second floor--it would be closer to the room (we are elderly female seniors). We decided to use the elevator, which was 16 steps to our room. Why were we purposely told to park around the corner and walk up???

Unlike Jay's gross sheet experience (and yes, I think that when putting on a bottom sheet it should be visually inspected for stains) our room was clean and had enough towels. The housekeepers were very pleasant.

The breakfast was typical of a hotel provided breakfast, and was kept well stocked. Had I known that it was kept stocked by germy gloved garbage hands, I would not have eaten anything that was not pre packaged!

At checkout, we inquired about our need to pay an extra $50 for field parking. The explanation was brusque and defensive. It had something to do with 2 busloads of tourists, who were not even there.

We stayed at another hotel in Casper for 2 nights prior (no price gouging there). Everything was wonderful--warm staff welcome, 5 hour early check in asked for and given gladly, very clean room. We went downtown and everyone shared their feeling of love and pride in Casper. Fantastic. The hotel down the street even invited us to join them (no charge) for early eclipse buffet breakfast in the parking lot!

Sorry Casper that the Gold Award Winner Sleep Inn and Suites (and their front desk agents) seemed more interested in making those extra dollars than in providing the gratifying Casper experience found everywhere else.

Really?

We were a family of 4. Staying at the Sleep Inn & Suites for the Great American Solar Eclipse. We had booked MONTHS in advance, and after receiving two phone calls from the hotel verifying our reservations, we finally arrived in mid-August. Let me paint the scenario that MANY Eclipse chasers had made reservations well in advance like we did, only to to find their reservations had been cancelled, but could be re-instated at a GROSSLY inflated price, or their reservation had been flat out cancelled. We were SO happy that Sleep Inn & Suites stayed in contact with us, and played NO SUCH games with us. What a relief to arrive and have our reservation ready for us exactly as expected!! Ooops did I say "expected"? When we arrived we were greeted at the check-in counter by a very pleasant lady (I'm so sorry I forget her name), who presented us with an "Eclipse Package" prepared by the hotel, to help us enjoy our Eclipse experience. The hotel had the ENTIRE event planned out for us. Indicating where we could park during the eclipse, where we could watch the eclipse, even pre-order a lunch to be delivered to us during the Eclipse!! Whaaaa?? Who gives that sort of service any more?? Sleep Inn & Suites in Evansville Wyoming DOES, that's who! This was all unbeknownst to us, and all within the Standard Hotel Room rate. Talk about Customer Service!!!
The Hotel Room itself was great. Rooms are relatively modern, bathrooms looked a little dated but nothing bad at all. Air conditioner worked great and was quiet. My only complaint in the room was when going to bed, I pulled up the bed sheet and there was an old "reddy-brown stain" on the sheet about the size of a silver dollar...We tossed it aside for the night, and House Keeping took it the next day. I don't think one can reasonably expect a hotel to visually inspect EVERY piece of linen, so I don't think this is any kind of a reflection on the cleanliness of the hotel.
The Hotel has a small fitness room and a good sized Pool with a Jacuzzi.
The eating area is open, and pretty good size, with around 10-12 tables. Each morning we arrived there was always a table available to accommodate us. The food variety was ALWAYS good, with plenty of eggs, bacon, sausage etc. Loretta was the keeper of the dining area, and wow does that lady work HARD with the patience of an Angel!! She is a very good reflection of the staff at the Hotel. My only complaint (and it breaks my heart to even mention this because of such a fine job by the staff), but in their efforts to keep the garbage cans empty, often the staff (wearing plastic gloves like they should), would lift the garbage can lid, and squash down the existing garbage...and then go on about their tasks within the eating area, without changing their gloves. Hopefully this simple mention will fix that!
Otherwise I could not believe the level of service and pleasantries provided by the Hotel staff. Thank you for helping to make our first Total Solar Eclipse an AMAZING experience.

Worth it!

Sleep Inn is very conveniently located right off I-25. The person, Erin, who checked me in was VERY nice and VERY helpful at filling me in on the area and life in Wyoming. I have bursitis in the hip and their bed was very comfy. The view of the mountains from my window was amazing. Their bathrooms were nice and clean and I liked their walk in shower. Overall, great stay!

Wonderful hotel

This was one of the nicest hotels we had on an 11 day trip. The clerks were great, friendly and helpful. Luggage handling was well taken care of. Rooms, and breakfast were very good. Can't wait to stay here again.

Looks New

The hotel looked like it was just built and I asked the desk attendant who informed me it was nearly 10 years old. It was A very nice new looking place. The room was awesome.. It was very comfortable and easy access to things we wanted. It was a great stay.
