Not bad...could be better
njtraveljunkieon 23/08/2017 14:07My family of four, two adults and two children ages 16 and 20 stayed here August 9th - 12th.
Pros:
1. Outdoor pool next door at shared hotel property.
2. About a 15-20 minute fairly easy ride into Charleston.
3. Very friendly, courteous front desk staff and kitchen staff.
4. Free parking and never a problem to find a spot.
5. Rooms were kept clean.
6. Inside doors to corridor.
7. Reasonably priced for the location and facility.
Cons:
1. Outdoor pool was very crowded with no supervision and there needed to be some based on the crowds.
2. Rooms: While clean, smelled very musty. Bathroom has a pocket door (one that slides into and out of a wall - not a standard handle door. We knew this going in - they indicate that on the website, however, at night when anyone used the bathroom it tended to be louder as it was a bit warped and required much force to close and open it. Beds were not comfortable. They appear on the website as they do in the rooms - to be on a "platform." We thought that would lead to harder mattresses (which we like) but it did not. In addition, the beds squeak incessantly causing everyone to get a horrible nights sleep because we woke up every time someone turned over. A/C worked but we could not get the room cold enough. Bathroom towels were a wee bit bigger than a hand towel and paper thin - not useful for drying off unless you get 5 or 6 per person.
3. Breakfast - a wide variety of virtually tasteless food. Omelettes seemed to be made from rubber. They had both a make your own waffle iron (plain and blueberry) and a pancake maker. I was curious about the pancake maker. Good idea but a complete fail - pancakes are flat and tasteless. Breakfast area gets super crowded and there is insufficient seating. Some tables were not stable - they wobbled, etc. Floors from breakfast area to elevator were sticky from dripping syrup - suggest having a cleaning crew present during breakfast time.
4. Security - building has a door from the parking lot to the inside in the back. We noticed the door was not locked one day and mentioned it to the front check in staff. They indicated that it gets locked at 9pm, accessible via your room key. I urged them to lock it at all times - it is in the back - most guests are not in their room during the day and in today's world, this seems like a serious security risk that can prevent potential issues given guests are not around during the day typically.
5. Noise - this hotel was noisy late into the evening. Little kids were running around up above us, through the corridors and a couple of rooms seemed to be having some serious drinking parties.
6. Location - while the location is not bad for getting in and out of Charleston, it is nearly impossible to make a left out of the parking lot to head on the road towards Charleston. Also, where the hotel is located, there really isn't anything to walk to - it's on a main road with stop lights. There are a few restaurants around. It seemed more commercial (auto dealers, etc) then a family oriented area.
Week Stay in Charleston
Michele Fon 21/08/2017 23:09Staff was very nice and the room was your typical hotel room. The pool was perfect and I loved taking a dip at night. Major con: semi-damp room, none of our wet towels or bathing suits every dried. Besides this, I have no major complaints. For a cheaper hotel stay, it was worth the price.
We were looking for a peaceful quiet night when we happened upon sleep inn charleston sc
Terry Con 08/08/2017 02:18I went in to inquire about availability, first floor and possibilities of two queen beds. We were very lucky they had all we were looking for for the night. Kristina W. also went out of her way to find us a shower stool, as my husband is handicapped. She was so caring and wanting us to have the best the Sleep Inn had to offer. The very next day before we even had the best breakfast a motel has made available to us, we booked the next night also. Thanks again Kristina.

IS IT A SHOWER CABIN OR IS IT A TIME WARP CAPSULE??
Jelena Son 24/07/2017 23:10We were moved here from the place next door which was an even worse disaster. Apparently, both properties are owned by the same company. The pool is shared by the two properties. The rooms have an odd moldy stink. They are crying for an update. Or actually, they have been probably crying for an update for like 10 years already. The ac unit makes noises and is a great hiding place for bugs. No toiletries. The bathroom has a sliding door and is probably about 6' x 4' (including the shower) which is like a minion sized bathroom. The oddest feature of all is the shower though - I have never seen anything like this before - it is like a scene from one of the first 007 movies when it was probably cool to have a pill shaped shower that does not close all the way and therefore is a very high flood risk. Also the door was hanging on one hinge only becoming at the same time a safety hazard as well. I absolutely hate the breakfast all of these places serve as continental. The quality is bad and it makes you feel like you are staying at a cheap motel but paying ridiculous prices. If you want to enjoy your stay go to a downtown Marriott or Hyatt. Do not take your chances with places like this. For a few bucks more it really is not comparable. This place is not worth more than $99 on any night whether during the week or on weekend. I absolutely hated staying there and regretted it every second of the three days spent there. It definitely impacted my whole road trip because it was the last place we stayed at before we headed back home to Jersey. Live and learn as they say. I wish I had pictures to post but I was too depressed to even take any. And one last thing to gross you out completely - the bed skirts are made 20000 years ago from something that's supposed to look like fake leather and they are completely worn out, dirty and washed last time probably in 2010. They actually reminded me of medieval times and the way all leather items were shiny back then due to wear and tear and also due to non cleaning. PICTURES OF THIS PLACE ARE COMPLETELY MISLEADING!!!
Great location for day trips
toslon 23/07/2017 14:17Located outside of Charleston, the Sleep Inn is perfect for someone on a road trip or with a car. Plenty of places to eat, right off I526, and an easy 2 hour drive along 17 to Savannah. The rooms were clean and quiet even being the first room, (rm 100). The staff was helpful and my daughters loved the outside pool (shared with the Beast Western next door). The only negative was the Wi-Fi did not work well. Great week-long stay.
