Short 2 Night Stay
Daioxyon 31/08/2017 17:30Just got back from my break in Cardiff and I stayed here. I was a little worried with some of the reviews but for the price I paid by booking direct and inc of breakfast was £80 I thought it was worth a chance. I arrived early 10.15 am fully expecting to leave my bags and disappear till 2 pm check in, I was very pleasantly surprised to be told my room was ready and could have it immediately at no charge, happy days!!! I also added late checkout for £10 another nice touch by the hotel I thought. Yes the rooms are compact but after all you're only sleeping in them and the room I had was clean. Facilities spot on. I asked for a quiet room but I was a little worried that it was on the front by the Wetherspoons pub, worry no more I couldn't hear anything at night (I'm a light sleeper) and slept really well so well in fact I made a note of the make of pillows so I could buy some for home. The breakfast was in all fairness good value with plenty of everything, if something had run out it was replenished quite quickly. Checking in/out was a breeze, location is spot on, everything was within walking distance even the Bay (20 mins it took me). Water taxi back to the city was on £4!! fantastic I thought. Even a nice little sign thingy in room saying if you've got noisy neighbours then the hotel would sort the problem out (something I've never seen anywhere before now), fantastic however I never had to use it as the place is quiet for a hotel in the location it's in with a building site and pub next door. Would I stay again........without a doubt and BOOK IT DIRECT as much better deal than all the usual comparison sites. I had originally booked it via booking.com, had a quick look on the hotel's own site and saved £35 with a breakfast included for both days. I couldn't go wrong, the money I saved went of alchohol.
nice stay

Good Value!
fat2uriston 25/08/2017 16:11I waited too long to book a hotel for weekend in Cardiff so my choice was limited. I eventually settled on this place because of it's location close to the train station and its modern look and the good price. I was weary due to some of the negative reviews but in the end I thought it was fine. Yes the rooms are small (I had a room with one double), and the shower room sucks - at least I think so, I am not a fan of that type of thing but I know people who love them - but as long as you are aware ahead of time you can plan for that. I thought the room was well set-up and it worked. The bed was good and the soundproofing was excellent. I was across from the elevator - but in what I thought was a weird design, to get to my room I had to first go into a small anteroom with 2 doors - my door and one marked "private". I assume this was cleaning storage but I never saw anyone go in lol. This also probably helped my room stay quiet. The staff were also great.
My only quibble was the breakfast buffet. The staff didn't do a great job of ensuring food was restocked in a timely manner. I had to wait a fairly long time before fresh food came out. I wouldn't get the breakfast if I were you - better options in town.
A five star, three star hotel
702arthuron 25/08/2017 01:08This hotel provided a great stay. Yes, it's a budget hotel and the room I stayed in was very small. But it was excellently, and intelligently, outfitted and designed. Everything had its place, and there was no wastage of space. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom snug, but not cramped.
The hotel is excellently situated - next to the train station, and right at the end of the main street in Cardiff, so very close to restaurants, pubs and shops. The breakfast was very tasty and while not elaborate, ticked all the right boxes.
I don't know how the hotel might cater for couples or families, but for single travellers, it's perfect and I would stay there again. Highly recommended.
Good stay
grahamc1515on 17/08/2017 12:15Second time stayed here - first time was in a very small bunk bed room - more for groups of lads/girls at the weekend rather than business trips. This time stayed in double room, not big room but fine for a night. Desk and chair so could work.
Staff all very pleasant and nice. Room let down slightly by cleanliness i.e. parts of the glass desk needed a good dust, bits in the coffee/tea drawer and the shower (room 401) could do with re-siliconing- having said this a lot of hotels need this!
Breakfast was tasty so all in all, good stay and reasonable priced for city centre (right next door to train station too) hotel.
