What People are saying

Crestline is simply a lovely place to visit, relax and soak in the beauty. Many years since we have been there, however we will make a point of returning soon. Forget how nice it is up there. Looking forward to taking grandchildren to enjoy Lake Gregory, a place I loved as a child when my grandparents lived there. The staff at Sleepy hollow are more than happy to help in any way. We enjoyed our stay there very much!

Wonderful, just wonderful!

I visit the quaint town of Crestline at least 5 times a year and I always stay at Sleepy Hollow. I can always count on a clean room that has charm and warmth. I love the fire place that helps me to relax after a fun filled day at Lake Gregory Water Park. The staff at the front desk and housekeeping are wonderfully pleasant, very helpful and always eager to accommodate. You're truly a gem.

Thank you!
Rhonda

Made to feel so welcome

We stayed a couple of nights whilst exploring the area and were looked after very well. The accommodation was extremely clean and the bed very comfortable. The fireplace with the "liquid logs" was fun and a pleasant feature. The owner and her manager were charming and nothing was too much trouble. All in all I'd have no hesitation in recommending Sleepy Hollow.

Really a lovely place

We especially loved the fireplace, the cool deck behind our room, and the walkability to everything -- including an awesome bowling alley and lots of great places to eat. We'd definitely come back again.

The good, the bad and the ugly

When we booked this trip, we had a peaceful getaway in mind, somewhat like the cabins we have stayed in previously; however that is not what we got. We really wanted to love the Cozy Corner (and the cabins in general).

The good:

- The room itself looked as pictured so there were no surprises there.
- The bathroom, though extremely tiny, seems fairly updated and feels very clean.
- The fireplace, being the focal point of the cabin is as gorgeous as it is functional. The front desk sells wood or you are welcome to get it at the (very nice) grocery store down the street.
- The staff is friendly and helpful. The gentleman that checked us in gave us a map and a run down of places that were good/to stay away from in town.
- Big, comfortable bed.

The bad:

- As a couple of reviewers have previously noted, the cabins are not in a "remote/relaxing" area by any means.
- Even though a creek runs right below the Cozy Corner cabin, it is drowned out by road noise.
- We paid for the hotel to add "flowers" like to our room, which the description said were designed by a local florist (but the bouquets could vary from the internet picture.) Our first impression was that the flower arrangement was actually designed by the landscaper from the scraps. We later found the same flower arrangement at the local grocery store down the street, which we assume is the "local florist."

The Ugly:

- Location. Though it is located within walking distance to Lake Gregory, the hotel is located on a "main road" and was surprisingly quite noisy. We could hear the traffic when sitting in our living room and in the bedroom. The cabins have a "concrete jungle" vibe more than a "relaxing retreat".
- Odor: The cabin has a faint urine smell (dog friendly) which I assume they attempted to mask up with the super strong air freshener (that made both of our allergies act up) and the bathroom or the creek (we weren't sure which) emit a sewer smell that is noticeable in the cabin.
- Other guests: The cabins seem to attract a younger, unsophisticated crowd (read: super noisy) which we assume is not news to the front desk as the first thing they said to us is "If your neighbors are too noisy, you're welcome to call us at XX" Some neighbors had really loud cars, others would "party" until really late outside and we were constantly hearing crying babies.
Some neighbors we just felt plain unsafe around.

We really wanted to make this place a "regular retreat" but it did not live up to expectations. Getting away from the cabins and visiting Heart Rock was the highlight of our stay.
