Good hotel let down by unfriendly staff
Gillboyon 21/08/2017 20:29This is a Soviet style hotel located next to the Volga river in Saratov.
My room was quite basic Soviet style but had a balcony with fantastic view of Volga.
The breakfast was very good with a lot of choice, probably the best in 3 weeks traveling around Russia.
What let the hotel down was the reception staff. They were absolutely terrible, so unfriendly and rude, i felt like i was a nuisance to them.
Saratov Visit
784agronomiston 08/03/2017 04:36Hotel reminded me of old soviet style hotels. Staff was ok not overly friendly. Room was sparse but clean and bed was good. Breakfast was nothing special. Location near the Volga was the highlight. Very few additional ammenities....a meat and potatoe hitel....no flash just the basics

christianxxon 18/06/2016 20:50Have stayed there 2 days in early june 2016. Nothing to complain, nothing to praise. The hotel is a big building from the 70's with simple rooms. Internet WIFI is available for free ( a bit weak ! ). The breakfast is quite good. I did not taste the house restaurant as they have the wrong habit to make you pay your whole stay at checking in...but there are a few other restaurants to be tried on the bank of the river.
The hotel is a place to sleep, have a room. They do little to make you feel welcomed or stay in the hotel itself, not much service. But still a good place to stay by.
Good value, comfortable hotel
John Don 22/12/2014 17:51We spent two nights here during a business trip to Saratov. The hotel was everything you could want, large room & bed was good, food good and the staff pleasant and polite. We were booked into the Slovakia by our hosts, but believe it to be one of Saratov better hotels, certainly, whilst lacking the luxury of some of Moscow's hotels, there was very little to complain about. My room overlooked the Volga which is a huge river, unlike anything we have in the UK. To summarise, a decent, value for money hotel.
Restaurant "Le Noir" at the Slovakia Hotel
Laury Bon 05/09/2014 12:01While staying at the Slovakia the main restaurant wasn't open, so I decided to try "Le Noir" instead. The result? I ate dinner there 6 or 7 times, a different dish each day (mostly fish) with an imported wine (as far as I can recall there were no Russian wines on the winelist). I enjoyed every meal.
