What People are saying

Great place for a quiet getsway

turner con 20/06/2017 10:14

We had a lot of fun with this place. Very spacious, great layout on the top floor (although the double bedroom on the ground is a tad odd) and very good service - staff are helpful and on beck and call. A short walk to the beach which has beautiful sunsets and also relatively quiet. It is also within short driving distance to local restaurants and pubs.

Such a lovely place - highly recommended!

Great apartment

We stayed there for two nights with our kids (8 and 9) they enjoyed having their own room downstairs while we had our privacy upstairs and a great view with beautiful sunset, the pool was also great for the girls although quite cold, we preferred the smiths beach with the ocean (sooooo beautiful) there is a little shop where you can buy bread and some little things (not cheap) the restaurant was good and it is also located at this location

Average, at best

We stayed for two nights in an 'ocean view' villa. Overall we didn't think this hotel met the standard of a luxury hotel. Specifically:

1) Room was drab and a little tatty
2) 'Panoramic ocean views' = glimpses over rooftops
3) Our room was overlooked by others
4) There are no onsite dinner options on Monday and Tuesday and the deli closes at midday, so if you arrive in he afternoon there are no onsite options for you.
5) The pool is not heated (nearby caravan parks have heated pools so this is bizarre)
6) Bathrooms were standard - no rain shower or bath robes
7) No room service, no mini bar

For the money and the rhetoric on the website, we expected a lot more.

Great location, accommodation and beautiful beach

Sarah Kon 23/04/2017 14:37

We booked one of the beach shacks which suited our needs very well. The accommodation is clean and modern with a main bedroom plus a bunk room with four bunks. The resort is just across the road from the stunning beach. The cafe serves lovely food and has an up-market beach cafe vibe. It is a shame that the car park is directly in front of the cafe but the view of the dunes and the sky is still lovely. This resort puts you within easy access of the amazing beaches and wineries of this beautiful part of WA. We didn't want to leave!

Amazing, peaceful holiday

We chose this resort on our WA road trip due to its location and proximity to the Margaret River. It was an easy drive from Fremantle 254k in just 3 hours. The resort is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group and has 40 rooms. There are 1,2,3 and 4 bedroom apartments available, depending on your flock. Its nestled between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leuwin in what could only be called Gods country. It really is a very beautiful area.
On arrival, late afternoon, we found the receptionists extremely attentive, even though they had many check ins. The resort was completely full which was understandable being Easter and there were children everywhere.
We booked a one bedroom apartment and despite having continual problems with the access card key for the entire time we were there, we did enjoy our stay very much.
The two-storey townhouse was huge in its proportions for 2 people and showed no sign of age, everything looked brand new. Downstairs was the front door leading in from a covered carport, and to the left was a massive bedroom with an en-suite. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was a TV and outside grassed area. The bath was huge and there was a separate toilet next door, along with our favourite Appelles Apothecary toiletries, and plenty of towels. The floors were all polished concrete throughout and the furnishings simplistic, stylish and modern. The entire apartment was spotlessly clean from top to bottom. Upstairs was an open plan kitchen, lounge and dining. The kitchen had everything you would need for a relaxing holiday if you didn’t want to venture out, nothing had been forgotten, it was fully stocked with plates, cutlery, utensils even down to the soap powder for the dishwasher. There was also a laundry. The balcony upstairs overlooked a beautiful pool, of which there are 2 in the resort I believe, and we had a BBQ and gas ready for our evening meal. The front windows overlooked the street which was extremely quiet for the duration of our stay. The Wi Fi was non-existent and reception didn’t appear to be open all that often, not that we needed anything from them. There was an after-hours number however to call in an emergency. There was daily housekeeping which we weren’t expecting.
The beach is directly opposite the Resort, 5 minutes’ walk away, and it is truly spectacular. The Smiths Beach car park was completely full for the entire Easter period and it shocked me somewhat that despite the Shark Activity sign at the beach reading- the date, and time of all shark sightings, including “2 X 4 metre ++ sighted at 3pm today” there were still 100 surfers on boards completely oblivious, most with children.
We dined at Lamont’s Restaurant in the resort. The food wasn’t bad I have to say, but the service was woeful, no one had a clue and looked like their first night on the job for all staff. The atmosphere is the worst part of this restaurant, they need to lose the 25 overhead lights. I felt like I was on Broadway, far toooo over lit. And the price was exorbitant for the offerings. There is a deli and café attached to Lamont’s which had lots of local produce and looked great. But stupidly, somebody completely stuffed up by closing the deli, café and restaurant on Good Friday when EVERYONE in the resort was looking for somewhere to eat!!
The entire area though close by the resort has too much to see and do, from exploring the Margaret River wineries and boutique breweries to checking out the Cape Naturalist Lighthouse, to whale watching, trekking, caving, diving, viewing galleries or just plain eating all the local produce as we did. I would recommend driving to Bunker Beach, Dunsborough and around Yallingup. There is something new to see around every corner, the entire area has a rich history dating back to the 1800s. We simply didn’t have enough time there and only just scratched the surface but I would recommend this resort highly for a relaxing family holiday.
The easter egg in the apartment was a nice touch too on our arrival.
