Fantastic Winter Ski Vacation!
Vert1467on 10/06/2017 17:48I went to Smugglers' Notch with a group of friends for a ski weekend getaway last winter and we had a great time! The skiing conditions were fantastic--great variety of terrain for our group which included a mix of skiing abilities (from first timers to glade skiers).
We were very pleasantly surprised with our condo -- spacious and fully outfitted with kitchen supplies, dishwasher, fireplace, etc. Would have been nice to have free wifi included, but there is shockingly good cell phone reception (much better than at all the other east coast mountains I've been to).
Overall, we really liked the food available on property, and took advantage of the shuttle which even takes you into town. Definitely recommend checking out the Brewster if you are there for great beer and good food! Got a chance to sneak in some Nordic skiing and go to the FunZone as well and try out lasertag and rock wall climbing. Great options for when you're all skied out or for the non-skiers in the group!
Definitely recommend Smuggler's Notch for a more-than-just-skiing ski trip. Can certainly see why it's so highly recommended as a family resort given the breadth of activities and investments in the learn to ski program (that even the adults in our group got to take part in!).
The NEW FunZone 2.0
cloke2010on 08/06/2017 20:44Great addition to our family vacation at the resort. Kids loved the lazer tag and I haven't done a mountain rally car race like the one they have in there ever! Great times sharing the experience with something the whole family participated in almost everyday during our 5 night vacation.
Amazing Family Resort
Barbara Mon 05/06/2017 23:43I cannot say anything about price because we won this at my husband's office Christmas party: a week in a 2-bedroom condo. It was absolutely amazing. There's lots to do right "on campus" so you don't even need to move your car. The buses are there in 5 minutes from the time you call, and all the pools are so much fun. Lots of waterslides, plus mini-golf, and the new entertainment area is opening soon too. Our toddler loved the friendly pirate (a year later almost we are still listening to his CDs in the car and just threw her a pirate birthday party), marko the magician, the flying dogs, mogul mouse, and billy bob bear. All this free entertainment plus a beautiful location. We had one rainy day while we were there, so we went to Ben and Jerry's factory tour and a few other things in the Stowe area. One tiny thing: the front desk told us that the hike to RumRunner's Hideaway was EASY. It was most definitely not. We had a REALLY hard time with our stroller. It's a rocky pathway, not paved, and it's very steep. Also, some of the guest service desk people said there were kayaks/canoes at bootlegger's basin, but that's not true really. They're only there for the special needs kids camp, so that's why we really wanted to go to rumrunners for the canoes, but it was really hard. Also, the restaurants on campus are decent as well, though a little more expensive than what's around if you are willing to get in the car. We mostly brought food and ate in our room, barbecued. It was a WONDERFUL week. And the whirlpool in our room was awesome.
Wyndham Owner Not Impressed
MonicaK614on 29/05/2017 19:18Trish and the other women were nice and welcomed me at check in.
Jenn checked us in- Step2?
Roads on the property are not paved. Muddy, hard on the wheels. Potholes all over.
We we're lodged in Tamarack 21- 3 bedroom.
Old. No Central Air- noisy AC units in the bedrooms only.
Old decor. Stained upholstery.
Needs upgrading. Where are my dues going?
Dirty furniture, ripped door curtains
No full length mirror anywhere
TV bathroom is mounted on a 45° angle so that when you're in the jacuzzi, you can see it, was what we were told.
Hairdryer. Antique
Kitchen: Small glasses, small mugs
No shuttles around the large complex.
$15/ internet/day. Only in the NE of the USA do they charge. My husband and I travel a lot. South of New Jersey they include internet. So cheap.
I paid tens of thousands of dollars for my timeshare with Wyndham. As an owner I still had to pay $40 for a fun zone. We still had to pay for the wall climbing, laser tag and all the other activities. Ridiculous
Don't waste your time on the time share presentation
Gary Mon 23/05/2017 19:51We went to Vermont for the Fall foliage staying at Smugglers Notch Resort. Luckily we hit the height of the colors and the Resort is in the middle of some of the nicest views and just over the hill from Stowe. Being October, some of the amenities (pools) were not really available or it was rather cold using them.
The staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions for restaurants and area sightseeing.
The units are very nice and spacious but unlike other time share units we've stayed in they expect you to take out your own trash and do your own dishes or face penalties. The wi-fi is somewhat iffy.
And don't bother with the time share presentation. They promise Wyndham points but nearly 8 months later and numerous phone calls and promises, NOTHING.
