Sofitel Philippine Plaza is an iconic hotel that has housed royalty, celebrity and heads of state. Opened in 1976, it is a structural masterpiece created by National Artist for Architecture Leandro Locsin, while the hotels grounds, resort pool and gardens were designed by Ildefonso P. Santos, another National Artist. Boasting of spectacular views of the Manila Bay and lush landscapes and greenery, the exquisite tropical setting within the city is unrivalled. Minimalist interiors, breathtaking views and traditional touches of local dcor using capiz shells and coconut inlay make the muted elegance and luxurious detail of the famous hotel by the bay a sight to behold.

What People are saying

One of the best

We stayed here just for two days with my officemates during our quick visit in Manila.. For me they may not be the most known hotels but they offer one of the best services, plus their prices are very much affordable

Dine by Design with a night stay

Charles Gon 29/08/2017 16:31

On our 3rd anniversary my partner and I decided to try something special. We chanced upon this new Dine by Design activity that the Sofitel is doing for a few months now. So aside from the awesome Club Room we got upgraded to, there's nothing like fine dining by the picturesque seaside being served by your own butler paired with some bottle service.

Unfortunately the rain poured during the early evening so we had to wait while they relocate our drenched private area somewhere private and dry. After 20 minutes we were happy to see that they found us a space out front which is not the most ideal but it's still better than dining with all the other guests this fully booked hotel has.

On to the food - 4 course selection that you have to finalize with their coordinator at least 72 hours in advance. Tonight we decided to get the Fois Gras and Assorted Canapé, Pumpkin Soup with Bruschetta, Sous Vide Beef Tenderloin, Chocolate Tart with light coffee mousse. It comes in succession that depends on your rate of consumption.

It was a pretty memorable, and full, night for me and my partner. We enjoyed everything despite the weather not fully cooperating.

Oh, and make sure you ask for John if you can as he was very attentive, proactive, and polite - probably the best guy they have on the floor.

Nice long weekend with the family

5 star global hotel in Manila. Everything is first class. Service is excellent. Food is top notch in all restaurants.

Pool area is very friendly for children. Life guards on duty always.

Location is good, right on the bay and not far from the Mall of Asia.

Hotel resort in the heart of Manila

the hotel is great. I do appreciate the facilities. limiting use though and F&B are excruciatingly expensive. everything else is good. they also have problems during peak occupancy.

Breakfast is also good. Spiral restaurant is the best.

My family was disappointed

George Hon 28/08/2017 08:10

We spent our family 'staycation' here for the long weekend. We had great experience in our previous staycations in other hotels close by, so we had high hopes for Sofitel. Long story short, my family was a bit disappointed. The room we were in was a bit old, bed n pillow stuffy, and really, there were 4 of us, we had to keep calling room service for extra water.(Housekeeping left only 2 or 3 small bottles-- really small btw-- so after we had tea, we had no bottles left for plain water-- oh and we had to make follow up calls for the water. Sorry when your 4year old says he's thirsty, half an hour wait is hard) Our welcome drinks were offered upon checking out (yes we also forgot to request it upon checking in but atleast they offered during checkout) I enjoyed the buffet-- the kids loved the dessert place, but the other food they didnt enjoy much. They had a great time though at the pool, but arnd 10$ for a coke, ughh!

The double beds seemed more like a single also. The view was great, but because of the isolated location, I had to go out and drive just to get the kids their dinners and snacks.

Oh well, lesson learned.
