What People are saying

Typical in Florence

Rooms with paintings, silent and clean. Truly recommended for the great position, good breakfast and the most important is that the attention of the owner is all focused on the guest, she makes everybody feel like home.

Very basic

haneleenon 18/04/2014 05:14

When we arrived we stood outside the closed door after a tiring trip for a long time. We phoned but it was not answered. Luckily a friendly man took us to Katie house and said we must go there to check in. If he did not tell us we would not have known what to do or where to go. We had heavy suitcases as we have a long trip and we are staying one night in a place and don't have time to wash. So we had to carry our suitcases up the stairs at Katie house to book in then down again to the other side of the street and up those stairs. The lady did not speak English which made check in difficult. We could also not ask her any advice. The only advice she gave us was that if we are in her place for only one night we should come with clothes for one day and shop in Florence. Coming from Dubai I surely did not come to Florence to shop for clothes just to be in Florence!! She then held on to our key and said we must pay before she gives it to us. A bit rude or maybe the language barrier. The room was very basic with no kettle or even glasses. The little carpet in the bathroom is best to be avoided. And we had an old towel from some hotel in Stockholm in the bathroom. Maybe left there by some guest. It just missed the personal touch I like from a b&b. The breakfast room was not cosy. So small and cramped. If someone was getting food there was no room to get up or move. Just made me feel like rushing and getting out from there. The cutlery was also not very clean. The toilet by the breakfast room looked like it had not been cleaned for a while and no hand towel. Overall not a very cosy stay. Luckily it was very well located and walking distance from the station and many popular sites.

True taste of Florence!

If you have one night to visit and you are seeking the true taste of Florence this is the perfect place to stay. My room had a window that opened to the side street below where the locals gathered at the cafes and restaurants which made me feel more like a local than a visitor. My room was quaint and spotless. The innkeeper, Maria, is warm and inviting, the way I imagine an Italian matriarch should be. In addition to her hospitality she offers a gracious breakfast and a hot cappuccino to start you on your day. One stay and you begin to feel like family! I would recommend this to all my friends.

Bad place to get stuck in

Nishtha Ton 20/02/2014 09:58

We went to Katti House but were made to stay at the sister property down the street, called Soggiorno Anna Maria, up a dingy, creepy staircase. It may have been nicer to stay in the actual Katti House, since the other property lacked the cozy B&B experience one usually looks for. The only time we interacted with the B&B owners, or rather, their minions, was when we went to eat the cold continental breakfast, where we wanted to just rush in and out.
We had booked for a triple room, and were shown to a meanly proportioned room with virtually no spaced to walk about after the third bed for my six year old was shoved in. The owners did not even provide for a tumbler, forget about water and such luxuries. And it was not that cheap either, given that it was off season.
It was the kind of room one does not want to come home to, even after staying out and walking all day. There was no window barring one that opened into a dirty shaft like area. The room would smell like sewer when we walked in after a tiring day spent sightseeing. The beds would be made up each day, but there was no cleaning done during our entire stay. We were so glad to leave it.
Overall, an unpleasant experience and people are sincerely warned against staying there.

Good value for money

The B&B is strategically located close both to Piazza del Duomo and the railway station.
The room, in an ancient house, was rather charming, and Mrs Annamaria and her kind family gave us a warm welcome. The room was quiet.
I think it's really good value for money.
