What People are saying
a rat hole
Giorgio Mon 28/05/2016 00:02please do not ruin your visit in one of the most beautiful cities in the world with one of your worse night lodging in the world. It´s ridiculous what they offer. Unprofessional service. Not all Italians are like the owners, believe me!
Bedbugs!
e non 26/04/2016 18:55Noisy and has bedbugs! AVOID! The location is fine but the room was dirty and we got bitten a lot - only stayed one night. Antihistamines lessen the itching but it ruined our trip to an otherwise great city.
So Bad It Was Funny
Georgie Bon 07/03/2016 11:35Me and my partner stayed here in July for only 2 nights (thank God) while travelling around Italy.
The hotel was very cheap and was in an excellent location, really near the Duomo and surrounded by lovely bars and restaurants.
However, I can say without a doubt that I would rather camp out in Florence Train Station than stay here again.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very small but loud Italian lady, she spoke no English which obviously isn't that big an issue, but is something that you should probably know before you consider booking. She took us to our room which was small, old fashioned and dirty. We opted for a room with a shared bathroom which was kept surprisingly clean but which was very very small.
After showing us our room the lady told us to wait while she brought our room key. We unpacked and waited for around 40 minutes, at which point I went to find her and ask where the key was. When I found her, she had absolutely no idea who I was and began yelling at me in Italian. Her memory clearly was not what it once was, but unfortunately this resulted in negotiating for a key for around 20 minutes. When she at last remembered that she had welcomed us but an hour ago, she was very apologetic, and I felt quite bad for her.
However, we returned to the hotel after a day of exploring the city (which is gorgeous and so so worth visiting!) to be greeted once again by an Italian inquisition about who we were and what we were doing there. My Italian is limited to hello, please and thank you, so in the end I had to google translate 'we are guests in room 3' on my phone and show her - once again she was full of apologies. When we got to the room, we found that it had been cleaned (although the sheets were stained beyond repair). However, while coming in to clean, the lady had left her keys for the entire hotel on our bed. This meant that we had access to every single room in the hotel, including all of the other guests' rooms! This of course could have been a big issue had the keys fallen into the wrong hands. I went downstairs to return the key, and was AGAIN greeted by yelling and 'WHO ARE YOU' (it seems this is the only English she knows).
The stay was so bad it was almost comical. You will not need an alarm clock as we were woken at 6 every day by the lady and her husband yelling at each other (how very Italian!) and you will not need to bring pyjamas as the rooms were so warm at night (air conditioning had to be negotiated for and my Italian - and patience - did not stretch to this).
You could make a brilliant comedy sketch out of this hotel, but unfortunately not a brilliant base for a city stay!
the worst value for money
egeria17on 05/01/2016 10:26the position is the only one good thing - it is near to the station and Dome, BUT the room was dirty, smelled after cigarettes, there was somebody else´s clothes in the wardrobe, the furniture is very very old, the owner could paint the room at least, there are more rooms in one flat, the bathroom is shared and also very dirty, the owner is nice old lady, she speaks only Italian, but she doesn´t clean up. It was overpriced. Never ever again!!!
Comical stay! Very Italian!
Laura Won 05/08/2015 20:53We arrived at the hotel quite late at night following a train delay, but were met by a very friendly Italian lady. She doesn't speak any English, but showed us to our rooms and communicated everything we needed to know through eccentric gestures and a strange mixture of European languages! The rooms were really comfy, basic, but everything you needed was there. The decor is very traditional, but it felt very authentically Italian. The AC worked fine, and the mosquito nets over the window seemed to keep the bugs out. The location was fabulous - lots of lovely restaurants on the road and nearby, and a short, pleasant walk into the centre. Overall, a really lovely stay hosted by a hilarious Italian lady!
