Hotel in the middle of national park
kirsihaaon 02/08/2017 15:56The best is the location! There are also other services available to help you to plan your visit and possibilities for nature walks are great. The staff is friendly but the service on a busy weekend day was a bit slow in the terrace cafe. The rooms are bit oldish although very clean and comfortable. Sauna and spa are also available. The views are great for the lake and the nature walks absolutely magnificent.
Unique hotel in the national park
Isko Kon 31/07/2017 12:38Although many people have punished in their reviews Sokos Hotel Koli for the ship's-cabin-size rooms, they are well equipped and comfortable (after all, the hotel structure has been fitted to the contours of the very narrow mountain top). The location (literally a few steps away from the pristine taiga of the hills), ambient and the views are simply stunning. The hotel restaurant must be the best chain hotel eatery in Finland, delicious dinners. Breakfast is good average level, well arranged.
Amazing location, uneven experience
skewedeyeon 30/07/2017 17:00Like many of the other reviewers, I can reiterate that the location is stunning. Unbeatable views, some of the best I have ever seen. The rooms however are in need of updating especially for the price. Everything seems a little worn around the edges. The sauna on the hand is very good and the restaurant is decent. Make sure you get a room with a view on the second floor.
Great views and poor hotel
Mi28on 29/07/2017 09:04This is a hotel by one of the most known viewpoints in Finland. I really have mixed feelings about our stay. We booked a superior room well in advance and specifically asked for one with a view. Well, we received one with a view to the parking lot, a worn poor room with a ridiculously badly renovated bathroom. No air conditioning, smells funny. Dinner at the hotel's steak restaurant was excellent, friendly staff and really tasty food. Selection of local beers, jus a few wines on list. Be aware to book well in advance to get a table with the scenery. Breakfast was again something totally different, really cheap and basic: Chocolate fountain and chips for kids, basic cereal and bakery for grown ups. Don't expect to eat healthy here. In summary, this is a hotel with top location and overall very friendly staff, but the rooms are outdated and the restaurants perform unevenly. The Koli viewpoints can be accessed free of charge.
Average hotel with good location
Janne Ton 24/06/2017 10:03The hotel itself is quite average and the price of rooms is quite high compared to other hotels of the same quality. The junior suite room in which we were was a worn out. Quite surprisingly it didn't have any air conditioning (it did have a large fan) nor a safe.
The location of the hotel is good and if you wan't to enjoy breathtaking views of Finnish nature this a good hotel to stay. The hotel is located next to some excellent hiking trails with a good view to the lake.
The spa had the same challenge as the hotel itself. It is quite average but the price is high (35€).
On the plus side the service is good for a Finnish hotel. For the service part the hotel is at least a good hotel.
