Reasonable sized room but difficult to find?

Hotel has three buildings and I stayed across the road with access via a tunnel. Needed assistance to find the room. The room was spacious and comfortable but pretty basic, a typical standard for a motel room. Cost was high for what was provided however most of Finland appears to be over priced. Wouldn't stay there again and have stayed in better hotels in Pori previously

I travel a lot and have a large amount of experience of hotels in different countries. I must say all in all this was one of the nicest I have stayed in. The location at the city centre was very good. We got a room from the upper floor, as we had requested a peaceful room, so the possible street noise didn't bother us. The staff at the reception was really friendly and made us feel welcome right from the beginning. Our twin room was a very basic room but we didn't need anything fancy, so it was OK. The beds were comfortable. It was nice that the hotel had a free sauna for the customers. The hotel had a nice restaurant with good food and friendly service as well. The breakfast was one of the best I have ever had at any hotel - a lot of delicious food items to choose from plus a couple of local specialities. I will give a small minus for the complicated layout of the hotel. It was easy to get lost when trying to find the room because of the connecting corridor, several elevators going to different places etc.

Very clean, very friendly. Great gym.

Breakfast was buffet, but better presented than most of a Similar standard.

Hotel has a quirky layout, which is endearing rather than odd. Location is. I've in terms of town centre...nice selection of local restaurants within short walking distance.

Huge room and friendly staff but strange layout

I recently stayed 2 nights at the Sokos Hotel Vaakuna in Pori, Finland. I was recommended to stay here by a colleague as I've never heard of the Sokos hotel brand before.
My check in was fast and friendly, and the front desk clerk spoke perfect English. My room was on the 3rd floor, but in a different building. It was quite a walk over through some cinder block hallways. A little strange.
My room was very large and simply furnished, but clean and comfortable. The bed was big and there was a nice rocking chair and a large TV with a few English language channels. The bathroom was small but also clean.
My only small complaint is that the workdesk chair was very hard, but still fine and I was able to get plenty of work done.
In the mornings I had breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The staff there in the morning didn't speak the best English, but it was fine, and the food was good with a nice selection of local items.
I did have dinner one night in the Mexican inspired restaurant attached to the hotel and it was actually really good.
Overall this was a very pleasant stay. It wouldn't call this a luxurious hotel, but for a business stay it was perfect!

Hotel Vaakuna in Pori is really conveniently located by the Kauppatori square and around the corner from my favorite place in Pori, the Beer Hunter's. They have rooms both sides of the Gallen-Kallelankatu street. Tasty and comprehensive breakfast.
