What People are saying

You will not regret choosing this hotel

This is a unique property and lovely. The rooms are special and the service first rate. The food delicious both in the main dining room and the restaurant down by the stables. I would love to go back to this hotel again and again.

WOW!!

Teddy Son 09/06/2017 14:05

Tucked behind an unimpressive gate is a truly remarkable hotel! This place is HUGE!!

Everyone has their own casita - a single standing room that is amazing! The grounds are covered with beautiful landscaping with flowering plans galore. We didn't eat here, as we had a huge lunch, but did visit the 'informal' restaurant for a drink. The facilities are beyond 'wow'! They have a spa, a library, a pool, an outdoor jacuzzi and two restaurants. The breakfast was nice with lots of choices.

Our room had a comfy bed with a thick duvet. At night we received a knock on the door - they brought us hot water bottles to keep us warm!! I thought that was a wonderful touch!

Horseback riding disappointment

Linda Jon 08/06/2017 15:54

Although we were staying at a different hotel nearby (Belmond RIo Sagrado), we went to the Sol y Luna hotel for lunch and the Paso Fino horse "show" and also booked what was supposed to be a 3-hour horseback riding trip in the surrounding natural areas. What we got was a rushed lunch outside with several other large groups of tourists, a 10-minute horse show, then a 1.5 hour wait while the confused staff kept sending us to different locations for our riding appointment. The horseback riding guide finally arrived after we had been there for 2 hours and our horseback ride turned out to actually be about 2 hours on the dusty streets of the village dodging lots of tuk-tuks and motorcycles. Definitely not an experience we would recommend given the cost.

Best Accomodations on Our Trip to Peru

elan3on 07/06/2017 00:59

My husband and I stayed at Sol y Luna on May 31st and we both wish we could have stayed longer. We are trying to figure out how to get to Cusco without having to take 3 flights to get there, in order to return in the future because we liked the property so much! Upon arrival, we received a complimentary upgrade to a 120m casita with an outdoor jacuzzi. The casita was truly spectacular and was the best accomodations of our trip to Peru! For comparison, during our trip to Peru, we stayed at the JW Marriott in Cusco and Lima, the Belmond Monasterio, and the Inkaterra Machu Pichu Pueblo Hotel, which are all nice properties but we both thought Sol y Luna truly was the best! The hotel manager introduced himself while we were at dinner in the restaurant and wanted to ensure everything was meeting our needs. Frankly, we felt like we were treated like royalty. The food was very good, well presented, and the service was great too. The wine list was also very respectable.

We also went to the spa, after days of hiking and climbing stairs to see Inca ruins, we were both really sore. My husband and I had a couples massage and they were both excellent.

While the end of May isn't high season, I was surprised this hotel was not full. It truly is special, has beautiful grounds, great employees, service, and privacy that you just don't get from a traditional hotel. My only suggestion to possibly improve would be to offer room service. If it is offered, we didn't find a menu in our room but we also did not ask. We were originally booked at the Tambo del Inka but after reading some reviews and discovering this property, I am so glad we stayed at Sol y Luna and can't wait to go back!

Sublime warmth

HampsteadCarrieon 03/06/2017 20:40

One of my favorite hotels anywhere. Our casita had a living room, huge bath, large bedroom, two fireplaces, the design brilliant. The staff was wonderfully trained, the welcome warm -- as were the colors of the rooms. The altitude is high so the evenings cool, making the bed warmed by hot water bottles was a lovely touch.
