This resort was excellent to us with good facilities. The room condition was good, and the service was no problem. Especially, the night view in resort was good and created mood. We were surprised because there was crowded though it was Sunday night. Many people enjoyed good facilities, and beach trail was very good to us at night. Overall, there was excellent to us.

Nice hotel on a beautiful property

I recently stayed at the Sol for a week in February while my son played in an olympic test event tournament in Pyeongchang. The property is gorgeous. We had a room overlooking the beach and had a beautiful sunrise each morning. The room was comfortable and clean. However, the heat was a big issue. The thermostat was set to 85 degrees Fahrenheit and we could not lower it - no matter what we did . We asked the staff to help with the problem, but they were never able to fix it and we were forced to sleep with the sliding doors wide open each night. Also, our room was on the second floor of the hotel which overlooked the lobby. We could hear people milling about in the lobby at all times of the day. There were several dining options as there are literally no restaurants near the hotel. The breakfast buffet was good, but pricey. The Italian restaurant, El Vino, served good food, but the service was disappointing. We sat with a group of 5-6 people each time we dined there, and the food would be served as it was ready. So on more than one occasion, I received my dish, then my husband received his dish 15 minutes later and my daughter received her meal 10 minutes after that when I was already done eating. There was a grocery store attached to the hotel which was very helpful for snacks and toiletries. All in all it was a good stay, but improvements could definitely be made.

Winter beach travel

My wife and I stayed in room with mountatinview double bed to enjoy the view of snow-covered Seorak mountains. It has clean ondol floor without carpet. The housekeeping was perfect with all clean linens and towels. We enjoyed red crabs and fish at Sokcho port, and enjoyed walking and seeing in Sokcho Joongang market. The 30 min. drive to the south brought us to a beautiful famous coffee house and famous places in Kangreung city. Returning to hotel before evening, we enjoyed driving beachside road to watch over waves of windy sea, and stepped out to walk sand beach. We love to visit again in Spring time...

Happy to return to this great hotel.

Last time I stayed here was about 5 years ago and also in the winter.

Korean booking websites showed this hotel as sold out for my dates but surprisingly found availability on expedia.ca for a good price notwithstanding the low winter season. Despite being a beach resort, it was quite busy the first week after New Year.

We had an ondol room (traditional korean way of sleeping on the floor) because it has a laminate floor and rooms with beds have carpets, which both my wife and I dislike. It was spacious (probably for the lack of bed :)) and clean. The housekeeping service was good, with linens changed and sundries replaced every day.

Choice of food is good, though pricey. In any event we ate mostly in Sokcho because that's what we came there for in the first place - fish! However a daily track of 15km and back was worth it for staying in a beautiful place like Sol Beach.

The grounds are very well kept. Walks on the beach and ariynd the property wrre beautiful. In fact we were impressed how this resort didn't age much at all - something that happens a lot and fast to korean hotel properties, especially local brands.

The AquaWorld was a great water park with outdoor herbal hot tubs. With the exception of a big slide it had everything that big waterpark have to offer at half the price and with a fraction of crowds.

A typical of a Korean resort, there were game rooms and a rather large supermarket to let you have your late night snacks and a drink without paying bar prices.

On the downside, there is virtually no soundproofing. Again, this is an unfortunate feature of all Korean properties except for some very high end international names.

The wi-fi setup is a bit silly as each room has its own SSID and sometimes if you are on a lower floor the device still picks up the lobby wi-fi and doesn't automatically switch to a stronger network. I ended up manually switching each time I was back in the room (we were on the second floor).

All in all, a lovely place and I look forward to our next visit.

Relaxing time

I have been there with my colleagues. It was such an amazing experience. Sol Beach hotel and resort is a wonderful place for relaxation after busy working and studying time. The resort is a little bit far from downtown so it's completely quite and fresh. One of the best things is the resort is surrounded by nature.

Every room is equipped with modern facilities and it's supper clean ang tidy. My room was a double room with sea-view and the view was really incredible. You can feel the connection between modern conveniences and nature there. Whenever you open the window, you can enjoy fresh air from sea and listen to waves which is in my opinion very interesting and relaxing. I think if you are a nature lover and if you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing place, this is a perfect destination you must come.
