What People are saying

Very good hotel

joeyB1982on 01/08/2017 23:11

I visited this hotel in the last week of July with my Mam, Dad, Sister and 5 year old Nephew. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the hotel was clean and staff were lovely. The buffet style meals were of good quality and had a varied choice, with most nights a chef cooking 2 specialty choices. Its an excellent hotel if you have children, with kids clubs and lots of activities going on, including evening entertainment. Lots to do for adults too including exercise classes and games. My only negative point is, there isnt enough space for sun loungers. I felt as though most days we were blocked in and sometimes found it hard to find a path off our loungers. Overall a good holiday, would def go back and recommend to others.

Excellent stay.

3 night stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. Our bed was decorated with rose petals and complimentary cava and sweet treats. We booked a sea view and sat on the balcony we could hear as well as see the sea. Our sea view room had twin beds pushed together. The bed was comfortable with a choice of pillows. Toiletries in the bathroom with small bottle of sun screen and aftersun if you had forgotten to bring. The hotel was very clean in all areas. Breakfast and dinner were on a buffet basis, with plenty of choice. Staff very pleasant. We booked B+B it is more cost effective to book half board. The hotel is suitable for all. Lifts to all floors. The outside space gives areas away from the sun. There is a mini club and activities of a more sporty nature eg Pilates, spinning . Each evening there is something to watch. The canarian folk dance and music was excellent . Free WiFi in all areas. Small fridge in the room. The town of Puerto Naos is an easy 3 min walk. The promenade is traffic free. The beach is black sand and clean. There are a number of restaurants and bars, also a well stocked Spar at the back of the town. The reception staff were extremely helpful.

Perfect hotel for singles, couples or families with older kids

We stayed here for 11 days this summer with or 15 month old daughter. We had room 174 which is a superior room with sea view located on the ground floor. We quickly discovered that while the hotel and its surroundings are lush, the hotel itself might not be the best suited for a small child. There was no paddling pool - the kids pool was 75 cm deep- and the sea in Puerto Naos was not suitable for small children because the waves are quite hight and the current quite strong. The room and the balcony were spacious and well equipped with baby crib. There was a gap between the balcony floor and wall, not big enough for kids to fall through but big enough for them to chuck things down from. Like their toys. Or your phone. Buffet was plentiful and quite ok. As a vegetarian, there sometimes was limited options but I didn't have to starve. The dessert section was amazing! The hotel was quiet, no crowds in the restaurant and there were always deck chairs available near the pools. Puerto de Tazacorte, a little north of Puerto Naos, is very suitable for a swim with small children. On the beach in Puerto Naos lives a man named Marco. He stacks stones for some coins to buy food for him and his dogs. He is very friendly, do stop for a chat! He was lovely and even gave our daughter a souvenir to take home!

I love the island, but I do not love this hotel

I loved my trip to La Palma, but did not enjoy this hotel at all. The views from the rooms are very nice and the hotel is very clean and has a very good location, from which you can get around the island fast. Also, the reception, hotel and restaurant staff are very friendly. These are the good points. The problem was the food. This is a 4 star hotel, but the food was completely awful. I had booked half board and had breakfast and dinner included. The half board buffet is located on floor 0 of the hotel, it is a big room with many tables and there is also a small area outside of the restaurant where you can sit and enjoy the sunset. The quality of the food was very bad. Most of the food was either frozen and reheated or canned. There was a lot of choice, but everything was either tasteless or tasted horrible. The only good thing: There is sometimes a person behind the buffet cutting freshly roasted meat for you (or making you an omelette of your choice in the morning), but the rest of the food was uneatable for me. My girlfriend didn't enjoy any of the food at all either, as she often left her whole plate almost untouched. Other guests seemed to do the same, leaving their plates untouched and taking new plates to try some of the other food, and I've heard some guests complain about the food aswell. On Saturday and Sunday, the food was so bad that we left the hotel restaurant and went to dine outside, in Puerto Naos. Breakfast was also quite bad, although a little better in quality. I expected better than frozen and canned food in a 4 star hotel. The island being small and more remote is not really an excuse for this horrible quality either, as I've had way better food in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I loved the island and want to come again. But I do not feel like coming back to this hotel.

Needs some TLC and a new chef but

We had a wonderful week on La Palma and Puerto Naos is truly a beautiful place. The hotel is in a prime position on the beach, but really is a very tired 3 star hotel and we personally wouldn't stay here again. The food was awful - hot food was cold, cold food was warm with the range of sloppy desserts turning into unappetizing melting messy splodges in no time. In fact it got so bad that although we had paid for half board we gave up and ate out at the local restaurants. I must add I am not a fussy eater and enjoy most foods but I'm sorry cold brussel sprouts do not belong on the salad bar by any stretch of the imagination. There are better, more subtle ways to use up leftovers.
Housekeeping was first class and reception staff tried to be helpful but there was a mix up with us paying to keep our room till later due to the late flight. It was sorted but took some persuading.
In summary we had a terrific holiday but just can't get excited about this hotel - the potential with a bit more care is there and I wouldn't say don't go....just be aware that you are paying for 3 star and that is just about what you will get.
