Quiet, decent price Hotel
Smriti Son 19/04/2017 16:24Welcomed by a friendly staff who worked both at the desk and the restaurants as the hotel was not very busy. Bedroom was nice, clean and very comfortable. They forgot to put shower towel in our room but that did not stop us to enjoy our stay. The hotel has its own restaurant, where we dined. I enjoyed my veggie meal, which was not listed in the menu. Breakfast was good as well. Limited varieties compared to other hotels but it was more than enough, just what you need for your day to go on. I loved the lounge area where they have put the old wines and old working tools, which were very interesting.
Charming, well-priced, small hotel on North shore
European-inMaineon 12/04/2017 18:49We found Solar de Boaventura a charming, wonderful, well-run small hotel with simple, but good rooms, an excellent restaurant and a beautiful garden.
The setting is quite spectacular: It's at the foot of mountains and overlooks the sea.
The trip by bus to this area alone was a treat: Came from Funchal over the mountains through laurel forest.
Enjoyed the hospitality at this hotel, the walks around the area and the talks with some locals about life on Madeira.
Traditional Madeira Stay
mcmurrytravelson 22/02/2017 22:45Spent one night on the northern Madeira coast. Solar Boaventura is one of the few places that you can stay at along the coast and is reminiscent of the 1950s. Quaint, cozy and quiet. A nice stop for a one night stay. less than a kilometer away going toward the ocean is a beautiful look out worth a stop. The price was super reasonable. The beds were a big too firm for my taste and the breakfast was uninspiring. However, for the price we could not complain. Parking and internet were free.
Overall, would recommend for a one night stay.
Hyggeligt afsidesliggende Hotel
Jonatan Kon 17/11/2016 22:43It was so nice staying there. Everything was very uncomplicated, and everyone was very kind. There was a kind of family-atmosphere at the hotel, both among the visitors, but also between us and the staff. We would happily do it again!
A relaxing place to stary
dann1927on 16/11/2016 17:34This is a small hotel and part of the building is very old but has been cleverly enlarged. We were well looked after, Madeleine and Sonia could not have been more helpful and so friendly. Ideally one needs a car because it is some distance from any shops etc., many people go there to walk. The beds are made up with sheets and blankets but only edge to edge of the bed, no tuck in. They also have a waterproof sheet over the mattress which does not fit properly and was most uncomfortable. The staff were very good and removed the waterproof sheet and made the bed up in such a way that we did not lose the bedding in the night which was a great improvement. Breakfast was limited, a choice of 2 cereals, fruit juice, fruit, yogurt, very limited hot breakfast, and otherwise there were the usual cold meats and cheese. Our last breakfast had not hot food whatsoever. Being the low season there weren't many guests, so it was beautifully quiet and we were there to relax.
