Paradise in magical Trancoso
Puza11on 14/03/2017 04:09Soleluna is a slice of affordable paradise in magical Trancoso. I stayed in the mini spa suite with a friend and had the most wonderful time. We had a bungalow each and private pool tucked away at the back of the property with nothing but banana trees and palm trees around us. It was very private and yet felt safe. It's worth spending the extra to book the mini spa suite for the privacy and its rustic charm. Excellent breakfasts was a great way to start each day before heading to the beach. Am totally relaxed and already miss soleluna, thank you Stefano and catia for sharing your piece of paradise.
Welcoming pousada in Trancoso
Ana Fon 17/02/2017 20:46We had a warm welcome at Soleluna by Stefano, the owner. The bungalow we stayed (nr 3) has a rustic chic style, a nice balcony, confortable king size bed and outdoor shower. Very spacious. Breakfast was complete with freshly baked cakes, eggs, tapiocas, fresh fruits and juices. It is walking distance to the Quadrado, where the restaurants are located. We recommend that you rent a car during your stay so that you can enjoy different beaches every day. I am already planning to come back soon!
A private paradise
daniabreuon 29/12/2016 17:00Don`t judge it by the front door. From the street, it looks like a regular house, but once you are inside, it`s like to be in you private paradise. We stayed at the suite with a Jacuzzi and it was amazing. It is completely peaceful and cozy.
The breakfast is delicious, with homemade bread and cakes, fresh juices and fruits.
There is not a reception or front door, but it did not make any difference for us.
From Soleluna you can walk to Quadrado in 5-10 minutes and to the beach in 15-20 minutes.
They do not have a kitchen for lunch or dinner, but you can easily walk to Quadrado to find the restaurants.
My only improvement recommendation would be regarding the bathroom: I would replace the light bulbs and make it lighter. We were there for a wedding and it was impossible to put make up inside the room.
Inside the gates, it is quite a magical place
victoriaxyzon 21/10/2016 12:53It is a small but really quaint pousada not too far away from the Quadrado. It has 7 bungalows, two are connecting with a pool, 4 single bungalows and one villa house. We rented the house which is really lovely decorated, rustic with Bahia flare. The owner is an exTv producer from Milano Italy. I have to say he really has eyes and taste for design. I am really amazed how he carved out each bungalow in the garden with its own privacy, green space, hanging hammock and outdoor sitting areas. The inside furniture and deco are mostly customer made by local artisans.
We rented the house which is quite big for our family with two kids. We didn't even use all the space during our stay. The AC was very quite but we didn't really need it as the temperature was lovely in the night. Every single bed has its mosquito net which I have to say is the single most important criteria for me in selecting a place. Since Trancoso is a tropical place, there unavoidably are mosquitoes. If you don't want to worry about being bitten, Zika and dengue scares, you should definitely choose a place with mosquito net over your bed for a peaceful sleep. We stayed for 3 nights mostly to enjoy the lovely town of Trancoso and to tour the nearby places. The quadrado is really the heart of the town with restaurants, boutiques and a few pousadas lined both sides of the square and a little white church and a big lawn in the middle of it. We went to the quadrado every night for dinner and during the day we just did tours.
From our experience I wouldn't recommend driving all the way out to Praia Espelho even though everyone wants to convince you that's the most beautiful place. Check out my review on that beach. It is a horrible bumpy long drive out there. Rather stay on the Nativos beach on the side of Estrela D'agua and Rio Barra Praia.
I think the two connecting villa with the pool is the quietest since it is furthest from the street. Our villa house is really comfortable and big, but is very close to the street so it is loud during the day when the traffic is busy. But I was surprised there was absolutely no traffic by late night when you sleep until 7 in the morning. There is minor construction going on, so ask for a quiet bungalow when you book. It wouldn't bother you if you are just planning to use the pousada as a base for exploring.
Great relaxed stay, beautiful place with nice staff
tiz oon 19/05/2016 13:02We had an amazing stay at Soleluna this May. The bungalows/rooms are spacious, with big beds and nice big verandahs where it is very easy to relax. Everything is set in a very luscious green tropical garden.
The swimming pool is nice and partly in the sun during the day. Staff is not around all day, but make a very nice brazilian breakfast every morning. Also the afternoon coffee/tea and free fresh baked cakes are amazing to finish of the day.
The property is about 5min walk (perfectly safe) from the Quadrado and about 10 mins from the closest beach. Be mindful that it takes approx. 1hr and 15mins to get to the Pousada from Porto Seguro airport.
Wifi is available in the rooms and in the main area, it is not super fast (don't try to stream movies), but works perfectly for normal use. Also all day some nice background music in the main area.
Finally, the owners and staff are super nice and always smiling. The owner Stefano is the only one who speaks English, but the language barrier with other staff was never problematic.
Would definitely come here again and would advise people to stay here for a relaxed and laid back stay. Don't expect 5 star service, but expect a low key, comfortable and lusciously green tropical garden with just a few bungalows. Great for relaxing and staying in Trancoso.
