What People are saying

Soniat House

Sonia House is a beautiful hotel. The location is fantastic - in the French Quarter but away from the crazy center of it. I booked one of the superior single rooms - the one I stayed in was right next to the front door. While the room was huge and luxurious, I wish they had a regular door instead of the curtained French doors, which didn't do too much to keep out light and noise - but that's understandable being next to the entrance at street level. My favorite part of the whole stay was having breakfast in the courtyard - freshly baked biscuits with jam, fruit, coffee, and juice. Delicious! Every staff member I came across was incredibly nice - I arrived early and they were super accommodating. Highly recommend - especially if you can get a quieter room away from street level.

Beautifully Authentic

Visited for Mardi Gras. Romantic, charming and homely. Sympathetically decorated with antique furniture. Fantastic service, could not be improved on. Great central location, very close to all the celebrations and attractions but just far enough away from the heavily populated areas. This is a grown up hotel and I would recommend for couples. Would have preferred coffee making facilities in room but this is a personal preference. Would love to visit again.

New Orleans at its VERY BEST!

Impossible to describe what it is like to walk through the courtyards of these historical beautifully restored buildings that comprise the Soniat. You are entering an elegant world not found anywhere else in the city. Each room is tastefully decorated and amazingly comfortable. If you appreciate exceptional architecture and antiques combined with gorgeous fabrics, this is your hotel in New Orleans. The staff is always helpful and pleasant. An outstanding place !

If Lafcadio Hearn had seen fit to create with his own hands a refuge for his most intimate friends, it would have been the Soniat House. Its deep, timeless beauty is an unfailing apotropaic for the hurly burly of local revelers and bacchantes.

The Perfect Wedding Site

Ted Hon 07/04/2017 04:25

Our first visit, and subsequent review, was in November 2016. Last month, we returned to be married on the suite balcony at Soniat House. The experience was perfect from start to finish. The charm of this endlessly interesting property cannot be overstated. It rests substantially in its attentive and gracious staff, the details of its plantings and decor, and of course in its location, history and "bones" - the original French Quarter homes of which it's composed. We are each experienced travelers who've paid plenty of dues in four- and five-star chains in destination locales. We chose Soniat House for our wedding not simply because it is memorable - we chose it because it's unforgettable. We hope to become regulars at a lodging that now lives in our hearts and memories!
