Basic Hotel

I was looking for a basic hotel with wifi to get some computer work done and Sonoma Lodge fit the bill. My main incentive to stay there was that it had the lowest price of the hotels with good ratings. Overall it was fine, but nothing special. It is an older hotel, but they seem to do a good job keeping it clean and up to date. The decor and atmosphere kind of felt like some of the mid-range hotels I have stayed at in India, which makes sense considering the owners seem to be from that part of the world.

My main complaint is that the room wasn't very soundproof and I could hear the busy road nearby as well as being woke up by my neighbor at 3:30am because I could hear them stomping about and talking through the walls. If it hadn't been for that, I would of given this hotel a higher rating.

Pros:
Friendly staff, good price, clean room, fairly comfortable bed, hot water, mini fridge (although mine was noisy), simple but cute decor, good wifi.

Cons:
Noisy room, smallish bathroom.

Older but clean

I reserved a room with 2 queen beds but that wasn't available when I got there so they gave me a room with a queen and twin at the same price. $5 difference so didn't squabble. Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Clean bathrooms. Price was right

old motel, but very nice

This was an old motel, but was very clean, up to date, had a nice set up of fridge, microwave, dining table to sit at, Well lit overhead lights along with two lamps for lighting when the overhead lights were off,m shower, no tub, that was ok. Very friendly staff, parking in front of our room. Busy main street, but room was quiet Don't be afraid to pick an older motel to stay at. One like this one will surprise you unless you have to stay in a top of the line then you won't like it here as for me, I would recommend this older motel to everyone I know

Clean rooms and friendly check-in

The check-in staff was very friendly and efficient.

The room was clean and the beds comfortable.
The cheap plastic window blinds don't work well and the curtains don't fully cover the windows.
The bathroom heater fan blows but does not provide any heat.
Wireless signal is there but weak.

Good water pressure and hot water in the shower
Windows open front and back, with screens.

Rooms are a bit bare, ours didn't have a dresser or TV stand.
Very weak microwave.

The room smelled of bleach very strongly when we took it over. This may be either a pro or a con, depending on your perspective. My wife has chemical sensitivities, so we had to air it out for a few hours.

Bottom Line:
You get what you pay for. This is a good "cheap but decent" hotel.
This was the cheapest room we could find, and it served its purpose. It was clean, had polite staff and was bug free. I wouldn't expect much more than a clean place to crash for an evening, but I'd stay here again.
