Where Else?

Historic hotel reflects its upgrades of a decade ago in the lobby, the furnishings, the decor, but not the bath room. Our quiet room on the 3rd floor was reached via two(2) flights of stairs as the elevator was out of order. In the comfortable room we found a much dated sink and fixtures, a step-in tub shower without a hand rail and missing wall tiles that had been casually patched. Water pressure was modest, and cooled as we washed on a morning of minimal occupancy. Centrally located, our continental breakfast was almost entirely packaged, but our reception by Ryah was a delight. Where else would we go on a single night stay when we are just driving thru?

First time at Sonora Inn

We liked the overall ambiance of the hotel...located right in the heart of old town Sonora with the shops, restaurants and bars. The room was clean and decorated nicely but lacked some functionality, especially the bathroom which was pretty small. In particular, the bathroom needed some more hooks located within reach for my wife and some more shelving above the sink to hold personal items. Also, probably because of the age of the hotel and limited water heater locations it took a long time and a waste of water to finally get the hot water to arrive at the shower head. Speaking of the shower head... the location is two low for an average person to get his head underneath without having to bend down quite a bit. the management needs to invest at least in the hign riser extentions for the shower head which would raise it up another 6-8inches. In addition, the mattress needed replacing... sinking into the middle. The continental breakfast was very good

Historic Old Hotel

The Senora Inn is an beautiful historic hotel located right in the downtown area. Our room was nicely decorated and it overlooked the downtown area. The continental breakfast was very good. We did hear a lot of traffic as there are two main roads on two sides of the hotel. Don't know if this is an issue if you do not have a room not facing the street. Also, the elevator was broken while we were there but the staff did help us upstairs with our suitcases as there are no rooms on the main floor.

Stepping back in time

If you love history you will reallly enjoy staying in Sonora at The Sonora Inn. Historic charm and atmosphere, friendly helpful staff and a nice breakfast in the heart of historic Sonora. Multiple Dinning and entertainment options within easy strolling distance. Hiking trails, recreation and natural beauty are plentiful in the surrounding area. A delightful experience for our family.

Am Interesting Old Hotel

Kirk N on 21/08/2017 17:16

This is an interesting old hotel and certainly worth staying at, but be prepared. As I said, it's an old hotel and has some issues. The night my wife and I were there, the elevator was out of order. This was an issue for us because my wife has Multiple Schlerosis. She managed to walk up the three flights of stairs to get to our room, but it was not easy. So, if handicapped access is an issue, make sure the elevator is working. There are no first floor rooms.

That said, this is an interesting old hotel. It could use a little work, but there is nowhere else in Sonora where you can get the same experience. You can get a feel for what Sonora must have been like a century ago. You're right on the main street, within walking distance of stores and restaurants. It's certainly worth a stay. My wide and I will stay there again, provided the elevator is working.
