Fabulous city hotel
Pip Son 30/06/2017 15:41Stayed here one night on way through to Austria with husband and toddler in tow. Underwhelming reception area, but the rooms are fabulous and I slept in possibly the most comfortable bed ever. Shower was huge and luxurious. Staff so kind and polite. Breakfast was lovely. If only every hotel operated at this thoughtful standard. Only downside was parking was a bit of a walk away. But would definitely recommend if you are looking for a comfortable stay close to Zurich without the eye-watering prices!
Royal stay in the Winterthur city center
22cia_22on 10/04/2017 14:45Perfect city center location. Close to the train station. Not accessible with car. You can find many shops, restaurants and cafes in the vicinity.
The staff was nice, helpful and super friendly.
I had the opportunity to sleep in a reconstructed room under the roof. Spacious, new and clean room was a perfect oasis after a long working day. There is still a small space for improvement but in overall it was a nice stay.
Do not miss the breakfast at Sorell Krone. Great, local and tasty. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to visit the Krone restaurant for dinner but I will do so in the future because I got only good recommendations.
Simple and efficient
Food_che_passioneon 09/10/2016 16:35Fantastic little hotel in the middle of town. Don't judge it by the first impression. The antiquate lift is in fact very efficient. The room although on the smallish side is perfectly clean with a good shower and lovely amenities (rituals...). The breakfast is small but well staffed. This is a non nonsense hotel perfectly positioned at 3 min walk from the train station and main shopping district and restaurants. The service is excellent too. Highly recommended.
In the middle of Winterthur
travel035on 09/09/2016 04:20Visiting Winterthur again was a bucket list item for me: I was there first as an exchange student in the Oberrealschule in 1966-67 and then intermittently over the next several years as a visitor. So, pretty much the last time I was in Winterthur was about 40 years ago and not surprisingly, the town has grown up a lot. A whole lot. The Sorrell hotel, Hotel Krone, is emblematic of this change being newly remade in a euro-modern iteration. It is located midway up the town's main walking street and so, is central to downtown Winterthur, making it an easy 10 minute stroll pulling your rollie along the cobble stone Marktgasse from the main train station. An elevator is available to avoid having to schlepp luggage up stairs unless you are into a little extra fitness. The hotel and rooms are modern and exceptionally clean and neat. My room was a single comfortable bed on the top floor but roomy and well appointed, pale wood board flooring, excellent shower and a window overlooking the walking street (Marktgasse). Fast wifi although the internet sign-in is a little...different: it prompts you to enter your cell phone number and they text you the code for entry. [A similar approach is used when the free wi-fi is available on the Swiss trains.] Instead, I suggest that you simply ask the desk for the number code and the password (another number) when you check in - much much easier and faster. Breakfast is nothing extraordinary but all very good: muesli, soft cooked eggs, scrambled eggs, coffee, juice, bread and so on, but well laid out in a spacious setting. There are a plethora of places at which to have lunch or dinner or just coffee or a beer all about the hotel, including the hotel itself; it is in a fine location and close to the main church as well as the art museum. The hotel is well recommended for comfort, efficiency, excellent and helpful staff, and location.

A very nice and good restaurant where you can sit outside. The staff is super friendly and is always there for you. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the train station. One of the best places to stay in Winterthur
