What People are saying

Very close to 5 star

brucenamtab1on 01/08/2017 15:01

We went for a cheap weekend me and two mates. I'll try and cover of wha most people wanna know before they book:
Staff, all Spanish and all friendly and helpful. Be polite and you'll get the same. We arrived much too early for our room, but we're allowed to use the all inclusive straight away.

Room, cleaned daily and to a great standard. We had a sea view room (no extra cost) which was a great surprise.

Food, buffet style as you'd expect from a 3star Spanish hotel, however, it was a better standard than most, white fish each evening, a different meat, lots of variety, all hot and all tasty. Standard Spanish bacon (not like ours) and the usual small sausages at breakfast. But that's not a complaint merely a pointer to anyone reading this.

Drink, lots of options, the house lager is Estrella damm which was a treat, very decent! Also we were allowed to order 3 drinks each at a time, none of that Htop crap of one drink per person etc. And when we moved to shorts the measures were decent.

Snacks, there is usually two types of snacks... the left overs from lunch etc, or a small spread of chips and burgers to go help yourself, or actually ordering what u want. This place lets you go up to the snack bar and order fresh made toasters, burgers, hotdogs or chips. Which is great!

The pool, very clean and the animation team kept you fit if you wanted it.

The only thing stopping this being 5 stars was the size of the pool, it looks larger on the pictures and there is little room to swim (if I wanted to) we mainly lay in it to cool off. And the sun loungers, not nearly enough. Standard 8am Job to get one... lastly the aircon, whilst it's free and not chargeable ours wasn't great... but that may just be our room, as I've seen no other complaints about it in reviews.
Hence my 4 star review.

All in all, is love to go back there is little to fault and plenty to praise!!

Oh... fab location, right on the sea front, and bang in between the shops to the left and pubs to the right.

Stressful vacation

ursulasloveon 25/07/2017 16:55

Me and my husband booked our vacation in agency because we wanted to go to Spain for the first time. We came to the hotel and the room was totally outdated (they are not like in the pictures!) the walls are so thin that you can hear people in the next room snoring all night. There are no house rules so children and teenagers were running and shouting in the middle of the night. Plus they are renewing the water park next to the pool where you should relax, but big maschines are causing more noise and dust during the day. We worked whole year to relax on our vacation but this was more stressful than work. If you are considering on booking this hotel - don't do it i tell you.

Beach holls

I have been a guest many times in this Hotel and on my recommendation I have sent many people. On arrival I could tell the reception area and bar had been given a new bright open look. The checking in seemed to take for ever but there were a great deal of other guests so it's understandable. But I did find there was a lack of info offered by the reception about meal times what my pack included and info of what was going on in and out of the Hotel .My room was fine as I book a upgrade room which I know is good. I felt the hotel had too many guests for the staff to comfortable cope with ,they seemed to be stretched in all the department,s . This hotel has had such a friendly charm about it which seems to be lost , and is turning in to yet another plastic all inclusive jungle , what a pity . After all changes are always happening but there are ways and ways to do it . And I think good service and all inclusive can be done with out losing the special touch this hotel had ... I did miss the lady who worked in the reception I think she was called Vivienne she was a mine of info and had that special touch with the guests. However the hotel is so handy for beach train to Barcelona and any other town along the coast. I do hope the new owners can iron out the teething problems and may be we will be back again . Wishing the new company every success in this new venture..

Do Not Recommend!!!

I came here on a school trip and the staff were so rude to us all! They blamed us for the noise even though it turned out to be another school stay in there. The food is disgusting with a poor selection and no food was labelled with anything so my friend accidentally ate something containing meat and she's a vegetarian all because we didn't know what it was as there weren't any labels! The cutlery and plates were filthy dirty and we were told that we'd have refurbished rooms and that we'd be arriving to a newly refurbished hotel but we were stuck in the old ones with 4 beds crammed into a 2 bedroom room! We could barely even walk, having to jump over the beds to get to the balcony and back. Pubic hairs, blood stains and urine stains were found in our bed sheets and the bath had a thick layer of dirt on it. There was nowhere near enough space for all of our clothes to go as we had only 2 drawers and one tiny little wardrobe - again because it was a room for 2 people and not 4!! I would never stay there again, the worst hotel I have ever been to and I highly do not recommend this place if you want to go on a nice holiday.

June fortnight

Gavidion 09/07/2017 21:59

Stayed last 2 weeks of June, and this was my fifth stay. A 3-star hotel that punches above its weight, in my consideration.
We e-mailed the hotel in advance and were granted an end of corridor room on the 3rd floor, which came with a fabulous sea-view(at no extra cost I might add!) Three single beds, two were very comfortable, air-conditioning which worked independently of the room key so we had it on 24/7)the weather was mostly hot and sunny! Bathroom came with a bath and adequate shower, soap and bath-gel provided and towels changed regularly. Decent enough balcony with 2 chairs and small table. Maid cleaned most days and did a reasonable job.
We were half-board, the hotel now operates a wrist-band scheme so the dining-room and bar staff can recognise who has to pay for what! Food is very good with plenty of choice. On Wednesdays they have a Mexican-themed night and Fridays a Spanish night, and food was great on both occasions.
Yes, the hotel does attract a lot of youth sports teams this time of year, but it's best just to get on with your own holiday and not let their over-exuberance spoil your enjoyment!
The pool area has plenty of sunbeds, the doors are kept shut until 8am so no one can get their towels out at the crack of dawn! Decent pool and the pool-bar was opened for the duration of our stay, and should remain so until early September.
Drinks are usual hotel-prices, 2.90 euros for a pint of the local brew(Estrella). The cheapest I found outside the hotel was 2 euros in a small Spanish bar off the beaten track. Entertainment in the evenings was quite varied, and with a few new acts since my last visit.
One point to take note of; there is a new mini water-park being built on the old car-park which was part of the hotel. This should be finished by the end of the season, and the plan is that all Sorra Daurada clients will be able to use its facilities at no extra charge. Food will also be provided on-site. I should also point out this is likely to mean next year they will be upgraded to a 4-star establishment, and will have prices to match! The work is well under way and we weren't in any way inconvenienced by noise during our stay.
The staff here work very hard and in my opinion go out of their way to deal with your enquiries or problems, they were quite happy to print off our return boarding-passes and also provide a packed lunch if you go out for the day or need to leave before breakfast on your last day.
One new feature is that Wi-Fi is now available 24/7 at no extra cost(on previous visits you used to get a half-hour free daily).
I always enjoy returning to this hotel, hopefully my opinions aren't swayed by my liking for it!
Top tip: get here in 2017 as next year you will pay more for the privilege!
