Charged me $100 for damages I didn't cause!
Courtney Lon 26/03/2017 01:16Terrible hotel! I will never stay there again. I was charged $100 for room damages that I did not cause. When staff sent me the pictures of the damages I could see that whatever was spilled came from the garbage can, and therefore, must have been from the housekeeper when she changed the garbage (NOT MY FAULT). So basically, I was charged $100 for something I didn't do! Ridiculous! The hotel didn't even have the courtesy to e-mail me or call me before charging my credit card the extra $100, I had to call them to find out why they were charging me so much. When the manager, Jennifer Vandemark, called me back to explain the charges, she was very rude about the situation, and even had the nerve to accuse me of dying my hair in the room! I called corporate and explained the situation, and they said they would investigate and contact me within three business days, however, it has been five and I still have not heard back from them. I guess I will have to call them back. Definitely not the service I expected for a Marriott branch of hotels. Some other downfalls pertaining to our visit at this hotel were that the hotel was across the street from a landfill, I found hairs in my shower and on my pillow, one of the jets kept falling out of its socket in the whirlpool tub in our room (and the inside of the jet was disgustingly dirty), and the breakfast was not very good, especially if you are a vegetarian or vegan, hardly any options. I will not stay there again, and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
got full
James Mon 20/03/2017 00:37Hotel was nice, front staff tremendous!! breakfast lacking, shortage of eggs 2 days, just not much variety. Room nice, very clean, bed comfortable. Staff maintains well. Very loud, doors slam and voices can be heard. Was there during a power outage and pool was full of "refugees". Comfort and cleanliness ++, quietness, --.
Pretty nice!!!
CDHIIIon 17/03/2017 16:00Stayed due to a power outage at home. Pretty nice place. Clean room and comfortable bed. No restaurant but a bar for drinks. Disappointed that an item left in the room was "not found" by the cleaning crew. Hard to believe.
Very pleasant surprise
BobPTCon 17/03/2017 09:28This was my first time in a Spring Hill Suites Hotel. It was beyond my expectations for the price. Although, it was a business trip and I was not paying the bill, I still recognized the bargain and value. I have spent 3 times as much and did not have this much luxury in a room. The room was spacious with a separate sitting area. The bath was larger than normal for your typical hotel fare.
The staff were friendly and very helpful! They attended to a minor maintenance problem with the room right away.
I would certainly choose this hotel again when I am back in the area!
Where's my cookie?
Trevor Mon 16/03/2017 00:10Looking at the other reviews, we must have picked the wrong weekend to visit, as our experience was far from even an average rating. Now, the staff is super nice, but a bit unprofessional. Check in was a breeze, which was nice after a long flight in, but we just encountered a few problems...
We had bought Buddy's Pizza along with THREE cookies the night of check-in. We wanted to save our cookies for a snack for the following day. We came back to our room from a trip to the Motown Museum and lo and behold... Why were there only TWO cookies left? Mind you, there were only 2 of us in the room and neither one of us happened to eat it. Our room was tidied up, but we were short a cookie and not all of our trash was taken out. Ok, so it was just a cookie and not an iPad, but it was still OUR cookie. All we could do was laugh about it.
We had an early flight out of Detroit and wanted a wake up call not knowing if our phones would adjust to daylight savings time. We just wanted to make sure we wouldn't miss it. Good thing our phones worked, bc instead of 615a our phone rang at 715a. When we told the staff (after yelling GOOD MORNING! to get their attention from the back room), all they could say was "Oops. Someone was supposed to change the clocks. FAIL!" So the humor was much appreciated, but luckily we did not miss our flight! Hopefully no one missed theirs bc of a "FAIL!"
The mattress in our room was super uncomfortable. You could feel all the springs in it and the pillows were pretty much flat once you laid your head on them. Luckily we were only there from Friday night and checked out Sunday.
This place got 2 stars from me, only because The Palace is only a mile away and it was super convenient for the game. Other than that, if you're looking for a more professional, updated place that you're not double checking your belongings to see if anything missing, this is not a place for you!
