Complete, relaxing holiday with everything taken care of!
Romiizon 24/05/2017 11:32I was travelling with my husband, and elderly parents who rarely travel anywhere these days. Which is why I was concerned about the whole set up and arrangements. But right from replying to all my questions at the time of booking from Mumbai, to the 3 days all inclusive stay at Sunderban Tiger Camp's clean and rustic resort with comfortable tent-like accommodation, till the drop back in Kolkata, the team was helpful, professional and warm.
The schedule becomes a bit hectic if you have limited time, mostly because of the multiple boat safaris that would take you into the narrow channels of the river system for wildlife sightings. But you can decide your own pace. The resort makes it as comfortable as possible for you with full early morning breakfast on board, several rounds of hot tea, snacks and juice, help with getting off and on board, carrying your luggage, helping with kids, elderly people etc.
The food back at the hotel is a delicious buffet spread for every meal - hot, fresh and wholesome. The rooms are basic tent accos but clean with attached bathrooms and running water. And the staff are helpful with pretty much anything you need.
Note: Because of the extremely harsh mangrove terrain, the tides that submerge and expose most of the islands twice a day, and human access only by launch boats, Tiger sighting is extremely rare, and not in anyone's control. Don't expect to see flocks of wildlife. Go here to experience a very unique ecosystem and lifestyle that is completely dependent on nature. Visit a village, pick up some local handicrafts or pure forest honey, enjoy the campfires and local dance and music performance, read a book near the duck pond, sleep on a hammock, unwind completely. Enjoy the lazy boat ride on the river with twisted mangroves everywhere, but keep a look out for crocodiles, monkeys, deer and lots of beautiful birds. And if you do happen to spot the Royal Bengal Tiger, know that it's a HUGE bonus!

blue_akashon 21/04/2017 16:39Visited the resort after 10 years, completely changed ...now having a jungle look but the old charm of tent accommodation has gone...one can look forward for a 2N package to visit sunderbans ...
Pros :
1. Perfectly scheduled all inclusive package in private boat.
2. Food quality
3. Ambience
4. Staff behaviour
5. Rooms and Sleeping quality
6. Amenities.
Cons:
1. Expensive for 1N 2D package
2. Representative would always wants to up sale their rooms with higher prices by showing silly reasons and accommodation structure.
3. Variety of foods not good quite basic and not expected after spending such huge bucks.
4. Boat ride got trimmed .
5. Evening snacks pathetic.
Bon voyage .....
Not luxury& no tigers Poor communication & issues with room
Indiophileon 20/04/2017 13:40This place bills itself as a luxury eco resort. It most certainly isn't luxurious it is rather basic and the service is patchy. We had an AC cottage; in the first one we were shown to as soon as the AC was turned on their was a load of polystyrene debris mixed with rat droppings blown into the room. Apparently rats get into the AC units but this clearly hadn't been checked for weeks. We moved to another cottage where I was bitten by bed bugs the sheets showed clear traces of these creatures .The rooms are rather dark & dingy There is a shower but it isn't connected to the hot water supply so you have to have a "bucket shower" . On the second day our room wasn't made up. We went off for an early boat trip and no one told us that the keys needed to be left at reception. THe reception staff are local women who don't speak English , they are not very helpful. On checking out one of them insisted that I sign my name against that of someone from Taiwan. Against this the food isn't luxurious but is very good and plenty of it , the restaurant staff are helpful although again have little English. There is a small bar and the drink prices are reasonable. We enjoyed our walk round the local village with the bar man.
The boatman, his assistant and the naturalist who accompanied us on our daily expeditions were great . Always cheerful and very helpful although we didn't see any tigers - a few crocodiles, monitor lizards a handful of deer and wild boar were our lot Even the birds were rather few and far between. However seeing the Sundarbans was an interesting experience.
Picturesque view
Suruchi Jon 11/04/2017 19:34Carry your pair of binoculars, camera and other necesasary safari equipments.
You are extremely lucky to spot a bengal tiger. You can spot some rare birds and crocodiles with the help of the tour guide.
Do go for the night boat ride, if possible . Sunderbans is one of the rare places in India with the bioluminescence bay.
