A Nice Hideaway

We liked this hotel very much, it was not too far away from the metro station and across the road from a number of eateries, one in particular which we frequented a lot for the good food and service. The hotel itself was a nice little hideaway amongst the hustle, bustle and heat of Beijing. The staff were lovely and friendly. The hotel was clean. It was basic, but all you needed really was a clean bed, somewhere to wash and somewhere to sleep. So it ticked all the boxes for us and once you closed your bedroom door it was very quiet. So no complaints and would stay here again and would recommend to others to stay too. (Only complaints for us were the smelly drains and the mosquitoes, both of which the hotel have no control over).

Affordable and authentic

Very authentic and calm courtyard hotel close to subway-station and nice restaurants. The rooms are rather small and simple, but very well worth the money. The staff is nice and helpful, but prepare for very basic English knowledge.

The staff were brilliant and speaks well in English. Very helpful and courteous. they made all my travel plans to all sightseeing and even the airport shuttle. The first day when the transport was late to pick us up the Manager arranged us Breakfast as well. So kind of him! I also saw all the other guest been treated well and the good response the staff got from all the foreign and Chinese customers. A very well and thought out team of staff I should say! Even the cleaning staff were nice enough to greet even with very little English that they knew. They all smile with you too when greetings are done! Not platonic!

Good Hotel

A friend and I stayed at the Beijing 161 Beihai Courtyard Hotel, and we were happy with our stay. I didn't arrive until 3:00 in the morning, but the receptionists were happy to help me get to my room and meet up with my friend, who had arrived earlier. They didn't speak much English, but they used an app to translate so that we could get everything sorted.

The wifi was okay, but sometimes it wasn't very strong on the room. That said, the room was nice, the air conditioning worked well, and the bathrooms were good. Overall, it was a nice stay!

The staff was very friendly and helpful, the hotel is for budget minded travelers, and has a feeling of authentic old China about it with the courtyard and appointments. Internet in y room was lacking, but was fine inside the lobby. Nice location near subway.
