Take your bikes and explore Texel
June Won 18/05/2017 18:49We arrived early afternoon and were greeted with a complimentary tea and coffee which we had outside on the patio overlooking the fields. We only stayed one night but will be back. The hotel is beautifully situated in the countryside yet very close to town. Our room was big and comfortable with all the facilities we needed, including access to the garden. The evening meal was beautifully prepared and the buffet style breakfast catered for all tastes. The staff were happy for us to leave our car in the car park whilst we had a last cycle before it was time to leave. All in all a very pleasant stay.
Celebrating a special birthday
AM1435on 18/03/2017 17:51My Dutch other half and I visited for his 65th birthday this week, and had a very enjoyable time, both at the hotel and on Texel as a whole.
The room and facilities were not exceptional, but everything was clean and fresh and the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
The real bonus at this hotel is the food.
Having purchased a half board option to stay, we were a bit surprised on arrival to be told that there was a very limited choice for dinner - basically one choice (unless you have food that you can't/wont eat in which case they will accommodate something different).
However, what food! How beautifully cooked and superbly presented......
I have always been suspicious of places that offer a huge range of dishes, and Hotel Tatenhoeve proved that doing an extremely limited menu to an exceptional standard is a brilliant idea, not least as we both ate things that we might not normally have tried, but loved!
Breakfast was also fine, but the real star here is the dinner. Fantastic value and will certainly visit again.
Paradise Lost ...
Joop von 27/12/2016 05:26we spend the days around Christmas in this excellent place. perfect and very attentive staff; very good room and excellent diners in a peaceful and loving atmosphere. close to the beach and the village of De Koog. we enjoyed the healthy walks on the beach.
Classy and comfy hotel in a tranquil setting
clanoton 12/10/2016 10:21The hotel is situated 5 walking minutes from the village de Koog, 5 minutes by bike to the beach. It has a lovely garden and large pond, where you can see the mist in the morning rising; soooo tranquil!
The rooms are modern yet cosy with the arm chairs and interior decoration (the photos on the website give a good clue). The bathrooms are very modern although more light would be nicer. Both, bedroom and bathroom are very clean! Some of the rooms still have carpets though I prefer the ones without. The beds are comfy although too soft for me. It is nice and quiet for a good nights sleep, although there is some kind of generator on the car park which buzzes quietly but constanly (if one is very noise sensitive like me). In summer it can get warm under the roof, since there is no aircondition, but ist perfectly fine for the area and especially it means less noise for everyone. The differences of the rooms are described on the website, although some of the differences feel unintended: in the double rooms there are enough hangers in the bathroom and some nice photographs on the walls in the bedroom, in the single rooms not...
Breakfast has a large choice, a mix of Continental and English breakfast (good choice of Dutch breads, cold meats, cheeses, sweet spreads, salmon, juices, good range of tees, musli section, fruits, cake, hot breakfast including eggs, baked beans and Bacon). Can't judge the coffee though. Only downside is that everything is packed in those miniture plastic containers. It deprives any buffet of it's style and does so much harm to the environment. Especially butter and jams can be offered "in bulk". Nothing to worry too much about, but if you offer boiled eggs, it is handy to offer saltshakers rather than a salt mill. Also the timings from 8-10h do not correspond to my biological rythm on holiday, but I guess you never fnd a solution to fit everyone in a hotel. Every room has its own table for the entire stay what I quite like.
The saloon and winter garden is especially nice to read a book in the evening or to play cards, while enjoying spirits or hot drinks from the bar. There is even a pool table.
The staff are very friendly and can help out in English and German. However, the cleaning service knocking on your door even before breakfast ends is a bit confusing, don't forget to put the "Do not disturbe" sign at the door.
All in all it is a classy and comfy hotel with friendly staff, although tiny bits could give it even more edge.
For the Brewery
Marnix von 18/09/2016 11:56We where on a one day trip to Texel. Visiting the breweries on the island. Hearing from friends that this hotel is the"youngest" beer brewer on the island, we had to give it a try. The beer was exquisite and the girl who served us was very attaintive and friendly, as was the bartender. We had a number beers to tasted and it was very nice to hear the story behind it. we did not sleep at the hotel, but we will definatly next time, if the service from the waitress and bartender where any indication.
