What People are saying

Good Choice

Writerchappy_13on 30/08/2017 13:33

Conveniently situated in the centre the hotel rises beyond expectations. Attention to detail is evident across the board, and the breakfasts cooked to order are excellent. Situated in what was once the home of Glasgow's first mayor, and later the head offices of the education authority, aBode have skilfully turned the building into a comfortable and stylish hostelry.
The beds are squishilly soft if that's your desire.
A taxi rank is opposite, a bus stop outside, and it is only a moderate walk to visit the Reid Building for tours of the Glasgow School of Art and the amazing story and to see the achievements of Glasgow's hero, Charles Rennie MacIntosh.

Last minute get away

Katdave19on 28/08/2017 22:54

Our dog had to have emergency surgery so we had to come to Stirling, decided to stay in Glasgow and see friends and booked this place on lastminute.com

It was clean, the staff were friendly, the hall way in the hotel is very cool. The room was not huge, plenty big enough but the bathroom was tiny.
We did the deal where you get a glass of wine at night and breakfast in the morning for £16 which felt like quite good value.

We would stay here again.

Wonderful stay

Jonesgoon 28/08/2017 16:46

Stayed there five nights (2 at beginning of tour and 3 at the end) and it was very nice. The staff is pleasant and very accommodating. The first room we got had a very noisy AC unit and they immediately put us in another room (can't remember the #). When we stayed the 2nd time we got room 211 and it was wonderful - corner room with a king bed and a larger bathroom. The hotel is well maintained and the rooms were clean, furnished comfortably and had nicer amenities like larger shampoo, lotion, etc., fluffy towels, very comfortable beds and were quiet. The food was great - how often can you say that when they are feeding a group of 30? We had 3 dinners there and everything was excellent. Breakfast was a nice buffet but well done and two mornings we ate in the regular restaurant off the menu. My only suggestion to management would be a more professional staff in the bar. The first two nights there were two charming young ladies who were quite inexperienced (they also served in the main restaurant in the morning and seemed to be a little lost). It took them over five minutes to open a bottle of wine one night (then a guest helped them). The 2nd time we were there it was better with two men that were a lot more experienced. The location is great and our experience there was overall lovely.

Room was like an oven!!

Stayed at this hotel on the 24th August for 1 night with my friend. Hotel is nice and central with lovely decor but when we arrived at 2pm our room wasn't ready for check in so popped out to get some bits for room and came back at 2.40, room still wasn't ready. Receptionist asked us to sit in waiting area til she got it resolved. Went back to the desk 20 mins later to then find out she had given our room to another couple in error!! She had to go and get the couple to then swap rooms around. Finally got into room 312, small room but fine for what we needed. As the time went on in the room it started to get super hot, there is a/c in the room but I don't think it was working as literally made no difference. Couldn't open the window in the room either as it was screwed shut!! Called reception but couldn't get room changed as hotel was fully booked so literally had to suffer the hottest room I've ever been in. Barely slept at night due to the heat either! Would definitely not stay in this hotel again simply for this reason. Was such an uncomfortable stay.

Glasgow Getaway

Our stay in the Glasgow Abode was both warm and welcoming. It was brilliantly situated and easy to access superb local restaurants, transport and shops. The rooms and the hotel had a touch of the Mackintosh style about it and made our trip very memorable.
