Excellent Stay

The room was magnificent, large and well furnished. We had a one bedroom suite on the top floor(which was a little less than convenient without a lift(elevator) The room service was fast, pleasant and accurate. The room was clean and well presented and we enjoyed every second. The staff were great especially Sabrina who met us and gave us a comprehensive and very friendly orientation. Returning after a day in the city was like coming home, I would stay here again any time I am in Edinburgh.

A great option for Edinburgh

My only problem with the Chester Residence is that we weren't there long enough. The apartment was lovely, very spacious, very well-appointed, and comfortable. The staff members were helpful and attentive, and we got a really impressive orientation to the apartment on check-in. It's on a quiet street not far from Edinburgh main attractions. And we found the price surprisingly reasonable. I can't recommend highly enough.

Good things and bad things

We booked this hotel for 4 nights. We had a very large one bedroom apartment! The living room was bigger than the bedroom, and we had two bathrooms.

Plus: very comfortable bed, beautiful apartment (if it had been cleaner)
they give you washcloths and robes, and excellent linens and towels.

Minus.....
I admit I am a complete clean freak. So if you are not as picky as me you won't find these
issues bothering you. 1. Our carpet was badly stained. It was a very light carpet (who puts in light carpet in a hotel?) and people spilled things all over it. I never can understand that, I don't remember the last time I spilled a cup of coffee on a rug!

2. our microwave was never cleaned, and the inside upon arrival was dirty

3. I dropped a black wool item onto the closet floor and when I picked it up it was covered in white hair, and no one in my party has white hair

4. You are really not that close to stores and shops, I much prefer staying closer to places where I could walk to a coffee shop and bring it back. They have a good Uber service in the city so we used that a lot.

The following things are problems in every hotel we stayed at in Scotland so not to criticize just this hotel; how do you turn off and on the heated towel bar -- it heats the bathroom on a hot day to boiling..... why is there no outlet for hair dryer in the bathroom?---why are the controls for showers, toilets, faucets and baths so confusing and different in every room?

I know I could have called the desk and complained but I didn't. We were slammed busy and I just keep thinking the maids would catch it, but they never did.

All in all I would try another place.

Terrific apartment style accommodation - very spacious, super clean and beautifully decorated in a lovely quieter part of town and yet within easy walking distance of main attractions. Highly recommend!

Very well equipped modern apartment

We stayed in one of the apartments this week. The apartment was very well equipped and modern. Nice comfortable beds. The fridge was stocked with milk....there was a very nice collection of teas. The kitchen was well equipped.
Our kids enjoyed the bathroom with the in-wall TV.

Ideal location - walking distance from the city center and the Royal Mile.

I would take off 1/2 star for poor wireless internet service in the apartment, and some broken tiles on the kitchen floor.
