Home away from home.
enercunananon 24/10/2016 00:27My wife and I stayed three nights at the Garden House prior to our trek on the Inca Trail.
The entire property is beautiful. So serene once inside. Owned and run by two sisters (Dorie & Ceci) and their brother, David. Unfortunately we missed meeting Ceci who was out of the country. But Dorie and David made sure are there if there is anything we need, be it a taxi to and from city center or a guide to show us around. Breakfast time is one we enjoyed most, simple but most healthy. Sipping morning tea while soft music fills the room.
We will definitely stay there again if our future travels put us back in Cusco.
Home Sweat Home!
Thomas Non 04/10/2016 03:55We recently stayed at the Garden House for about 6 total days. We had a great time and they took very good care of us! I felt as though I was staying with family. Cici and Dorris, sisters, are very warm and gracious people. The perfect hosts! I chose this place because of the reviews and felt like they would take care of all our needs, which they did. They had a driver pick us up at the airport. They took us in early (arrived at 6:30 am) and feed us, and then we slept solid after traveling 24 hours from the States. The property was perfect for our kids to run around and feel safe, which is another reason we chose the place. Didn't like idea of staying in crowded city with no place for kids to run around. My wife and kids had problems with altitude, and they were on that with oxygen and whatever we needed. The neighborhood is nothing special, but safe. Little market across the street for water and beer. Pizza place and tappas restaurant all there too. They set us up with a great driver ($50 round trip to train station in Poroy and $130 for all day tour through Sacred Valley) who really took care of us as well. Dorris and Cici were like aunts/ grandmothers to our kids! We felt so connected to them that we took Cici out for dinner. It's not the Embassy Suites, but all our needs were taken care of and I never had to stress. I would stay here anytime!
Fantastic customer service!
Paul33324on 28/09/2016 02:42My wife and I recently stayed at The Garden House in Cusco for one night. We arrived late at night after a long day at Machu Picchu, and left early the next morning to go to the airport. So we didn't have much time to experience the property itself, but I wanted to write this review about the fantastic customer service we received during our brief stay.
We were very tired when we arrived, and we had a number of things to do before our early morning flight. First, we were starving, so we asked Ceci if there was a place nearby to eat. She immediately produced a menu from a local pizzeria, and said "don't worry, just tell me what you want, I'll have it delivered here".
That sounded great, but I said that I had used up all my local currency (soles) so I also needed to go out to find an ATM. "No problem", she said, "I'll pay the restaurant in soles and you can pay me back in dollars".
Our third challenge was printing our boarding passes before our 5:30am flight. Again, she made it happen. "Just give me your flight confirmation number and I can get the boarding passes from the airline's website and print them for you."
Finally, we needed a 4am taxi. She called and arranged it.
Ceci did all this for us within a few minutes of our arrival, and told us to go to our room and relax for a few minutes. 15 minutes later, she knocked on our door to say our food was ready. She led us to the dining area, where she had set the table with china and silverware, poured our drinks and laid our our food. We had a delicious pizza, while she produced our boarding passes and confirmed the details of our taxi.
We got up at 3:30am to catch our taxi (ouch). Imagine our surprise when we opened the door of our room and found Ceci up as well, offering us something to drink and walking us out to the waiting taxi. She confirmed with the taxi driver that he would take us directly to the airport and the (reasonable) price.
Ceci made what could have been a hectic few hours into a pleasure for us. I can only imagine what a delight it would be a stay with her for several days to see Cusco and the nearby tourist sights.
Wonderful experience at the Garden House!
Kerri Mon 30/08/2016 15:29Cecil and Doris were wonderful hosts. Our group arranged a cooking class with them, and the food was incredible. We had dinner and breakfast at the Garden House. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the rest of the guest spaces were bright and inviting. Overall, an excellent experience.
5 nights total stay
MJ4500on 06/08/2016 09:37Ceci and Doris are great hosts, friendly, welcoming and full of local knowledge. They helped us arrange tours to suit us, sorted multiple taxis, and even did my online check in for departure flight. Couldn't have asked for more. The hotel is charming, with great breakfasts. It's a little out of town, but taxis work well. Nice pizzeria close by and a laundry across the road which worked well after long travels! Recommend.
