From the moment you arrive at The House you know you are somewhere special. From being offered the welcome drink of your choice to the personalized 'no front desk' check in, the seamless entry to your holiday definitely sets the tone. We stayed 5 nights and are already planning on booking our next trip. The breakfast was delicious and had many options to choose from, the champagne being a lovely extra! What we were the most impressed with perhaps was the ability of the ambassadors to be on top of their game yet also not always visible. The service was excellent in that way. The location is IDEAL for exploring the west coast restaurant scene. The beach is perfect and the reef provides outstanding snorkeling. We saw two sea turtles and tons of fish right off the beach, never had to do the excursion! If you are looking for a place that is intimate and relaxing with white glove service and a charming ambiance, this is your place! Just don't tell too many people.

So enjoyable and relaxing

We are at the end of our 10 day stay at The House. We will be very sad to leave. We arrived from the UK and first impressions were that it was ok and smaller than we thought. It is a bit sad and tired in the public areas however the place is being refurbished in August and is closing for 8 weeks. The plans look impressive and we can't wait to return to see the result. However we have experienced the most amazing customer service. When you arrive your bags are whisked away and you are welcomed by your own Hotel Ambassador.....in our case it was Christopher who was just wonderful, nothing being too much trouble. This place just gets under your skin and I defy anyone not to totally relax and enjoy all The House has to offer. Including buffet style breakfast with Champagne if you want it. Unlimited bottled water and soft drinks. The staff are constantly making sure you have everything you need and there is a constant supply of cold water, cool towels, sunglasses being cleaned and ice cream whilst relaxing in the pool area. Afternoon tea is served everyday......we did not partake but it looked very good. The staff are always happy to book restaurants, taxis and trips and are on hand constantly to advise. Our room was comfortable, spotlessly clean with a beautiful ocean view. All in all we had an amazing time. Would highly recommend it and we commend Sandra and all her team for their flair to make us feel so at home with their amazing customer service. Brilliant!! Well done!! We will definitely be back.

Wonderful Hotel

This was our second visit to The House. We were picked up at the airport by a limousine pre-arranged with the Hotel

On arrival at the Hotel security gate, you could be forgiven for thinking that the building looks very basic and plain. Then the security gates open to reveal a wooden decked platform lined with fire torches and surrounded by water. The limousine proceeds along the deck to the hotel entrance where you are presented with a stunning view through an open lounge area dressed in white drapes and through to the sea beyond. Stunning.

The staff were attentive and very welcoming. In fact, this was the theme throughout our holiday, they all just couldn’t do enough for us. Andrew (Aston Villa?), Richard (Anthony Joshua), Ricardo to name but a few.

This time we opted for a garden room and we were not disappointed. Clean, fresh and well appointed. The ground floor room opened on to the gardens and the pool was located just to the right of us. Very convenient. The room was spotlessly cleaned every day, in a timely fashion and we always had plenty of fresh towels.

The champagne breakfast was a delight. Plenty of fruit, seeds, smoothies made to order, including the more health conscious varieties, eggs however you like them and plenty of champagne. Our glasses were always topped up.

At 4pm a beautiful afternoon tea was served in the lounge area. Sandwiches (different each day), cakes and of course scones.

Happy hours starts at 5pm to coincide with the most beautiful sun sets. Sipping cocktails on the decking whilst watching the sun go down is magical. Something we will never forget.

We had some memorable evenings in the bar area and met some really nice fellow guests. A few very late nights!!! We love the intimate bar area – feels almost like being in someone’s home.

In August the hotel is to undergo a 6 week refurbishment programme. This includes a new Spa and Bar area and a refurbished lounge. Plans and artists impressions are on view at the hotel. I can understand the need for change and certain areas could do with a refresh but the artists impression for the lounge look worryingly sterile; think BA business class lounge. I cannot help feeling that the heart and sole of the hotel is being ripped out. I sincerely hope I am proved wrong.

I guess we will find out when we next return!

Exceeded our already high expectations - we will most definitely be back!

Yes, you can believe the hype. Visit and experience The House and you will then understand why there are so many 5 star reviews. One of the best beach vacations my wife and I have ever had.

So for us, our first trip to Barbados. Been to many Caribbean Islands (Aruba, Turks, St. Thomas, St. Croix, Bahama's, Grand Cayman) so we are not new to beach vacations.

Typically we stay in large chain hotels (think places like Marriott) and are used to vacationing with lots and lots of people around. The House provided a refreshing break - actually something we have never done. Never been to a small boutique hotel before. Nice that it was an adults only hotel too.

So everything from check-in (yes there is no front desk or any desk at all) to check-out was superb. Welcome rum punch was great and refreshing and a terrific way to start the vacation - watch it though, as they are strong. While relaxing on the couches and sipping punch, your bags are whisked away to your room. A senior member of the staff also personally inspects the room to ensure everything is in order before they walk you to the room. The check in procedure is actually done in room (you sign one piece of paper and they take down your CC info). The senior staff member shows you all the amenities of the room and gives you an overview of the hotel. From there you are good to go.

Could not be closer to the beach. Just about every room has ocean views of some sort. We had signed up for the Spa Indulgence Package and one perk of that package is a free room upgrade (if available). Well, we lucked out. We were placed in the nicest room category in the hotel (full one bedroom suite) with two balconies, center of hotel overlooking main decking, pools and beach. Just incredible.

So the place is just beautiful. I will try and post some pictures so you can see for yourself.

What I think really sets The House apart is the people/employees and the service. Everyone is so friendly and they just can't do enough to make sure your every need is attended to and every want is satisfied. Even simple things like coming around in the morning to spray clean your sunglasses. A simple thing, but rarely seen this done. Or bringing you a cold fruit smoothie during the heat of the early afternoon, just after you've had lunch. Boy does that hit the spot. Or the mid afternoon ice cream brought to you at your pool or beach lounge. Ice cream has never tasted this good. Then there is the mid afternoon tea service. For this you need to come up off the beach and to the decking. And then there are the early evening canapés.

Before I forget, a word on the wonderful buffet breakfast. A special shout out to the ladies and gent's who worked the omelet station. Lot's of other chafing dishes to choose from, as well as breads, pastries, cereals and juices. And of course lots of coffee and tea to get you going.

I would be remiss if I did not spend a moment to call out a few special employees who left a memorable impression on us and made our vacation even more special.

Ricardo - what a wonderful guy. We just loved him. Always there with a smile, looking to help. A wealth of information on the island, restaurants and things to do. Recommended we consider Ragamuffins on Sunday evening (they have an interesting drag show) - we did and loved it. Changed two dinner reservations for us, always there to call a taxi. Just a wonderful guy.

Wade, thanks for all your help, including assisting with the bags and helping us with check-out.
Damon and Shawn, always there to help with food and drink service.
Paul (hotel security), big dude and wonderful human being.
Teddie - great bartender and genuinely nice guy. Service with a smile.

There are lots of others too, but I'll stop there to make a few comments on the local restaurants.

Here are the places where we ate:

Lone Star - Best restaurant decor and overall ambience (food excellent too).

The Tides - Best tasting food in my opinion (loved the seafood stew); great location and ambience as well.

The Cliffs Beach House - What a view. Food was good, but portions were small. In terms of value, least value for the $.

Cin Cin - Great food and great location, but decor too sterile for me (everything, and I mean everything, is white) - wife loved it though.

Daphne's - Great location. If you were any closer to the beach, your toes would be in the sand.

Ragamuffins - Bar restaurant. Food quality not up to the others, but it was quite good for what it was. I had the ribs, and they were excellent.

The Cliffs - Setting cannot be beat. We did not eat here, but we did stop in for cocktails before dining in their sister restaurant (The Cliff Beach House).

Absolutely fantastic. We will be back.

In summary we just love this place. It's going to have a mild refurb in the next few months and we are trying to come back over Christmas to have a look.

So what was so great?? Let me share a few amazing things and memories:

- champagne breakfast - such a good breakfast - we would spend an hour or more leisurely eating our breakfast in the sun . Bottomless champagne, eggs made just how you want them and pretty much anything you want. Excellent service. Just the best start to every day.

- amazing setting. Great beach and facilities and the location was perfect

- the people are amazing. Everyone goes above and beyond to help you. I cannot fault anyone. Special shout out to andrew ( who just made us laugh all the time); chad (for being super helpful and even cleaning our glasses!!); Damon (for sharing his stories of celebrities and being very attentive); Paul (head of security who always loved a chat with us); Shane for being so helpful all the time and finally to Sandra (the manager of the place who came and made us feel so welcome). There are many I haven't specifically thanked but they are just fantastic. They made this place amazing and I can't wait to come see them again.

- great location - can walk to the cliff. Easy to get everywhere. Yet nice and secluded. Couldn't have chosen a better location

- facilities are great from the complimentary jet lag massage on arrival to the ice creams and other goodies the provide throughout the day. Always coming and giving cold water. The fruit that is brought to your sun bed. All these nice little things that make the experience so enjoyable. Afternoon tea is always served at the perfect time and is tasty! The rum punch on arrival Is great. The nice intimate bar they have and the atmosphere at night! It's alll so good

I've travelled a lot and his will definitely be on my list of nicest hotel experiences and I will recommend it to others and certainly be back. This really is home from home.

And to top it all off we met and made some great friends who will keep in touch with.

Well done Sandra and team and thanks for making it such a blast!!

See you soon
