What People are saying

Convenient and Classy

Great location being close to the airport, lovely clean room and friendly staff. It has a nice relaxed feel and the evening meal and wine was delicious. You can stroll around the gardens and enjoy the cicadas song

Amazing building. If you want different book here!

This was advertised as a B&B but when we got there we were quite taken aback at the size of this establishment. Amazing building made from recycled timbers and iron. Beautiful high ceilings, sky lights, metal mesh stairs...wow! Only one drawback was no mini fridge in any room. Still the staff let us keep our wine in their drinks fridge in the downstairs bar. Conference facilities here and they even do weddings. A most interesting stay and very reasonably priced to include a continental breakfast. Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Interesting place to stay but don't be thinking of it as a peaceful retreat

The Narrows Landing looks to have been a stunning location a few decades ago but now the owners appear to have gone with the 'keep it tidy and useable' stance rather than put money into obvious upgrades. Our room was comfortable and the quirky decor was of interest BUT there was no fridge in the room, the glasses and cups weren't what we consider to be clean and having to get water from the bathroom tap isn't exactly ideal. To get hot water in the bathroom expect to wait a good five minutes for it to 'warm up' so not exactly environmentally friendly - lights in the room were also 'floodlight' like so although quirky looking not exactly eye friendly when watching tv lying on the bed or friendly to power consumption. Finally although peaceful looking setting the local boys were out revving cars/ doing wheelies in the area and other guests decided to have a domestic outside our room - without double glazing/noise insulation that ruckus meant our stay was not what it could have been. Shame really.

Great design, Great setting

I am partial to the wood, glass, metal style of the building. The glass enclosed eating areas and outdoor patios are wonderful. The second floor balcony is shared with other rooms, so this facilitated visiting with other travelers. The early morning was quiet for reading while birds called in the trees. The breakfast was simple but delightful. The staff were very kind and helpful. This was a gem of a find.

Excellent

The building constructed of steel is furnished tastefully. We love the peaceful ambience and the spacious homely layout of the reception area. Our room is the most spacious we have come across on our travel in NZ. Toilet comes with a long bathtub and shower too. Even tho room service was not asked for , a fresh set of towels were given at the door the next day.
