During the month of May I traveled with some friends to San Francisco and made a visit to Carmel by the sea. A beautiful and picturesque village.
We stayed in this french style hotel with beautiful cottages. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Its surroundings are beautiful with lovely grounds. I stayed in a beautiful French style cottage with beautiful gardens. They have very good and fast wifi, tv with cable.
The breakfast is a continental but very good. The service is excellent. It walking distance to the sea and to the village boutiques snd galleries. It is also very close to Monterrey aquarium
It is a different and idyllic experience

Highly recommended

Fantastic location, nice cottage.....

We stayed in Cottage 21, which unfortunately, faces Ocean Ave. I don't know what it's normally like or if it's because it's Memorial Day weekend but the street noise starts early and doesn't die down until after midnight. But more frustrating was the never-ending stream of LOUD people walking up the street 2' from the bedroom window was terribly distracting....it felt like they were in the room with us.

On the plus size, the cottage is cute, very clean, and comfortably large. I suspect if we had been in one of the inner cottages or in the Inn itself, it would have been much more pleasant. Next time, I would try to get a room in the inner courtyard near the pool.

Very quiet in a great location

We spent three nights here, and came away with mixed feelings. We drove in from Pasadena, and arrived tired. Went into the courtyard to park the car, and it was full. Luckily, they do have two spots in front (on Ocean) where you can park to check in. After that, you are on your own, as once those eight or nine spots fill up, there is no other parking on the property. We managed to snatch a spot across the street, and then, were afraid to lose it.

We had been assigned a corner room on the ground floor. As we always sleep with windows open, that was not possible here for safety reasons. So, we were moved to a twin bed room on the second floor. The room was clean and nicely furnished. Not cheap, chintzy furniture, but really good quality designer pieces. We were able to keep our window open, and we slept very well.

The location is wonderful. You can walk to the ocean and you can walk to the shops and restaurants. It is peaceful here.

The WiFi was spotty in the room. On my husband's bed, it worked, on mine (against the wall) it did not. Upon check in, we were given a 10 digit password. Don't know why that is necessary, as at all other hotels, you just log in as "Marriott Guest", and you are connected. On Wednesday May 3, I had a birthday, and our four adult children (one from Europe) were calling individually through FaceTime. The first one was our son (who is in Europe). We barely began talking, when everything went dead. After that, I tried to call him back, he tried numerous times again, and nothing. NO WiFi anywhere in the room, just the message "No Internet Connection". Could not understand it, but went to Lobby to see if I could get connected there. No luck. I talked to the Front Desk, and she said, "Oh, didn't anyone tell you that we change the password every Wednesday?"

Well, Hello there ! We checked in on Monday, and it was known that we were leaving on Thursday. WHY, for heaven's sakes, couldn't we have been told about this password change when we checked in? I looked everywhere. Not one word about this policy anywhere. No notice on the Front Desk, no notice in the room, no notice in the instruction sheet we got at check in. By this time, it was too late to do any FaceTime, as our children all work, and cannot just be sitting around waiting for me to get the new ten digit password.

Concern for the customer is lacking here.

Beautiful, Quant, and Good Location

We loved taking pictures of the hotel and the surrounding landscapes! Small room with little view, but big bathroom. Location is perfect - near the beach and restaurants and shops. Parking was plentiful and continental breakfast was good. They also let us keep our car there even after we checked out so we could walk around the shops.

Another stay at Normandy Inn, excellent experience again.

After really enjoying our stay at one of the cottages in this complex 2 years ago, we decided to came back to stay at the Inn itself. What a nice stay we had. This is truly an experience of times gone past. Although they have upgraded for all the expected amenities, this place is peaceful and mind inspiring. Its many options and rooms (separate rooms for breakfast, another room for Brandy and relaxing ALL INCLUDED), give you a feeling of " This place is awesome". The rooms are clean and the people are very pleasant. We will be back next stay in Carmel by the sea, which happens every 2 or 3 years. PS the "PORTABELLO" just steps away is Awesome for lunch!!
