Enchanting

Be it to celebrate a special occasion or to host a formal event or to just kick back and relax while sipping on Udaivilas Martinis, the Oberoi Udaivilas never disappoints.
From the royal welcome with rose petal showers to the traditional Rajasthani souvenirs at our arrival and from the romantic lunch on lake Pichola, to the countless drinks we had at the bar, our stay has been nothing but luxurious in every sense of that word.

This was my third stay at The Oberoi Udaivilas and one of the reasons this place beckons again and again is their absolutely brilliant staff. We were welcomed by Mr Divyam who checked us in and also coordinated all our reservations be it at the spa or the restaurants. Mr Abhishek Sharma, the Assistant Executive Manager of the property, was with us and ensuring that every aspect of our stay was made memorable. It isn't always that an executive manager ensures the highest degree of hospitality and administers the same to each guest at such a personal level. Mr Ratnam, was constantly in touch with us on WhatsApp ensuring that everything was going just as planned. We know in what a closely knit manner the management and all the staff were working towards ensuring the highest degree of hospitality to us when Mr Kaul, the General Manager of the property greeted us this morning. Despite the amount of pressure that was on the management due to the Chief minister's visit to the hotel, it did not take away from the attention the hospitality rendered to each guest staying with them.

Another high point of our stay was the magnificently luxurious room which we stayed at. The room with a private courtyard and a semi-privat pool, overlooking the gardens of Udaivilas, with a background of lake pichola was a nothing short of blissful and made us extend our stay by one more night.

The Oberoi Udaivilas is definitely a jewel in the beautiful crown of Udaipur. We did not want to leave this property without being assured of being hosted by the Oberoi Hotels again. We therefore have already planned our next trip, a Himalayan vacation to the Oberoi wildflower hall, Shimla.

Continue the great service!

Amazing Fantastic outstanding hotel and resort

This is one of the best Oberoi property. Just visited the place. They have their own private jetty which can take you to the hotel by enjoying lake pichola boat ride.
Once you enter the hotel, there is a huge welcome with roses and tika. Spacious room with private pool, you can enjoy all the facilities of this hotel. Last but not the least, hotel staff is too good wearing kurta pyjama n turban all the time and greet you every moment.

everything was perfect

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the service was sublime.
The staff do every thing they can to make you feel welcome and the general manager
is always present and so friendly and helpful..
The restaurant staff are all wonderful and had plenty of knowledge and suggestions
and the service was very good..
We also found the valet service the laundry and butler service of a really high standard.all the treats, flowers , a really nice touch..
The standout is the absolute beauty of the hotel and it takes several hours to explore
as for the spectacular views of the lake..wow wow wow..
Special thanks to the chef and hospitality manager for helping with a special dinner
the food the music the flowers the attention to detail..perfection..
This hotel seems to get better and better ..i will return..

Went here with my daughter for a relaxing break. It was stunning! The staff were helpful and friendly and they couldn't do enough for us. The food was lovely.....also had a wonderful pedicure, manicure and haircut! The semi private pool was great fun. Local places to visit. It was just lovely. Beautiful lake views across to the town and the palace. Oh....and a local wedding too. What more can you ask for?

Fabulous Hotel and Experience

I am a typical nightmare of a customer. High standards , low tolerance for mistakes and loud as well as voluble when critical and very stingy with praise.
We rated Oberoi Udaivilas a one star in May 2017 due to a bad experience at the reservations desk.

This is one time we had to eat our words as you cannot gauge the services and capability of a hotel and equate it with that of a centralized reservation call centre.
Our experience was a 180 degree turn from the booking experience. In short a 5 star experience .
We had been on a 5 day trip with 4 days in Udai Vilas and 1 day in Taj Lake palace . We wanted to experience both hotels and were unable to decide where to spend the bulk of the holiday as both had fantastic reviews. The only reason we chose Udai Vilas for the bulk of stay was because they had free airport transfers as part of the package.

A decision we didn't regret. It's very difficult to pen down everything but am putting the summary of the stay below.

Welcome - Right from the first moment you feel pampered. At the airport, we were welcomed by a very regal crew from the hotel and taken off in comfort with cold towels and bottle of waters to refresh us in the car. We were greeted at the hotel with rose petals, aarti and a delicious rose and lychee drink. A very personal and local touch was gifting of Rajasthani pagdi for the men and lovely dupattas for us ladies. Our photo bombing at the Oberoi started from that very minute. The check in was seamless and seemed to take seconds. The good part was that the staff understood that we have just travelled and just want to unwind in our rooms.

Property - Gorgeous, gorgeous property. It's a huge property with lush green gardens. A mini city of its own. The whole property is just 15 years old but takes you back in time in the way it is designed by keeping the old world charm intact. There are so many unexpected beautiful spots all over the property with amazing view of the lake and the city. To the delight of my son , there is a nature reserve with peacocks and deers which kept him delighted all the time . He ran after butterflies, stared at snails and has quite a collection of butterfly wings and bird feathers now. This was his absolute high point. The property has so much to explore and its ideal for a stay-vacation . Everytime we stepped out , felt like getting back to the sanctuary of our hotel.

Rooms - The rooms are fabulous and most importantly large. You cannot get cabin fever in these ones. The bathrooms are the size of the average hotel rooms in Europe. The room is not lacking in anything. Some of the rooms have a semi private pools which are absolutely stunning. An infinity pool at your door step and the expanse of the lake ahead. The mattress is very comfortable and the pillow menu is very exhaustive. There is a DVD catalogue for the evening and nights you just want to cuddle in the room. And popcorn is then promptly brought to the room. The whole room is designed keeping customer comfort in mind. There is no need to look around for charge points, light switch etc. Everything is handy. Even the bathroom slipper are not stuck in some corner in the wardrobe but read for you to slip your feet in . Most important bit for Asian and middle east travellers. They have jet spray on demand. This alone with get a 5 star from me anytime :) .

Facilities - The facilities are very good. We didn't have a single meal outside during our stay. The food is delicious and I recommend the onion kachori and spinach coconut soup. We didn't utilize the spa facilities as the hotel itself had so much to explore. We took a hotel tour and a boat tour which were absolutely great and really recommended. We had a special occasion and Oberoi took immense care to make it even more special. Roses /Cake and beautiful gifts .

Staff - This is their true strength. Brilliantly trained staff . I was unable to find fault with service and attitude in a single member of staff . All of them very polite , very customer centric and pleasant at all times . Everytime we met a staff , we got the tradition greetingal and a smile. I am not sure how do they manage such a strong and positive motivation in the staff day in and day out. Before we can ask , the staff knows what we want. They go above and beyond to take care of their customers . The care of the doorman to ensure that we take an umbrella on a cloudy day to the boatman who would always give a steady hand to my mother who got a muscle pull during the trip, the staff treated the guests very very well. Seriously couldn't find one staff who I can fault . Just mentioning a few names but still doesn't discount the remaining staff who did provide a wonderful service.

Abhishek - For the warm welcome and making our entrance a relaxing experience
Raghav - Walking us to the Bada mahal with a lovely lesson in history and patience with my son who kept chasing squirrels
De & Prashant - For organizing the lovely boat ride with the mazing food . A lovely experience for our special occasion . And not to say the amazing food you guys served us each time

Rajnish - For the tour and the sneak peeks around the hotel
Mathurdasji - For the history behind Bada mahal and the lovely optical illusion painting

Soham - For the lovely company and service during the boat ride

Rana : For ensuring that we stay hydrated

Amit Kaul - For running a fabulous hotel.

The thoughts below is something for travellers who are choosing between Taj and Oberoi like we were . Taj is a lovely place and has an advantage of the beauty of the lake and the history of the place is amazing but Oberoi wins hand downs with full marks to its staff. I read multiple reviews on Taj Vs Oberoi and for us its Oberoi through and through .

Thanks again Udai Vilas Team for making our holiday amazing
