What People are saying

Horrific

Went to Brighton first time this weekend , never wanted to sleep on floor so much in my life , covers was damp and not even a proper sheet , toe nail clippings in blanket , had to purchase my own blanket so I could sleep in some sort of comfort! The shower couldn't even fit in and I'm a size 8/10, wasn't hot at all! The wifi took all my data as wifi never worked at all! The breakfast was cold! Was ridiculous money for all that was wrong with the place! I wouldn't recommend anyone going there! And I'd definitely say I'd only pay £40 at a push for the room I had

Excellent location, tolerable otherwise

I stayed two nights at Old Palace Guesthouse, paying 120 GBP per night.
The hotel is very close to the beach, so location is excellent.
But inside everything is very old and the experience is quite unpleasant.
The shower is so small that a normal person might get in without closing the door.
The bathroom itself is not large enough to lay a single mattress on the floor, to give you an idea.
Seagulls make an infernal noise all night, so maybe being so close to the water is not the greatest idea.
Breakfast is served in another building: too much work.
But really, everything felt so old that our lovely weekend turned into a depressing stay.
Gets one extra star because I got out alive.

Terrible

We booked this place going by reviews but were very disaappointed. Firstly i has requested a low floor as I am disabled, when we got there they had put us on the top floor. We refused, I couldn't have made it. After some backwards and forwarding we producted the printed invoice which stated by them that we would be given a low floor. They then took us next door, where I might add you had to go for your breakfast. We were put in The Istanbul EV where we were given a 1st floor room, which was a single room with a double bed. Not very clean but passable. The shower was ok but too small. You banged elbow on sides just washing hair, drop the soap you couldn't pick it up without opening the door. The bed reached approx. 6 inches from the corner of the bathroom to the bed and the other side by the window. I bumped into the bed trying to get by and scratched my leg deeply which then bled all over the bedding, which was clean. Will not recommend and most defintley will not stay again The breakfast was oK by the way. The free wifi didn't work also.

a great place for the money

We had a great visit to Brighton and to find this place was a bit troublesome but the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was on the very top floor(no elevator) and the stairs were very narrow. But we will stay here again but with smaller luggage.

Very disappointing

The only positive aspect of this place is its location, close to the seafront. The person who (eventually) came to let me in did not speak good English and was not particularly friendly. My room was tiny (though the bathroom was adequate size), was freezing cold with no double glazing. I needed to use the extra bed throw and the tiny fan heater as the radiator was apparently not working. The TV switched on but no channels available. The wifi worked - just. I booked for breakfast but in the end did not stay, as my impression of the place was not good. In any case, breakfast did not start until 8.45 am which did not suit my plans.
