Riverwood is indeed a Retreat - An Affordable Resort in Dooars
Abhishek_Chakrabartion 06/07/2017 17:44I visited this place in this June for a small vacation along with my Family. The location of the hotel is good; its 3-4 kms away from Murti River Bridge & Gorumara National Park gate & 100 meters away from the Elephant Camp. But You can enjoy the Murti River view from the terrace of its restaurant. Rooms, swimming pool & restaurant are well maintained but the garden and other locations inside the resort campus are not at all maintained. Rooms are spacious and very comfortable for family with kids, however I missed a Laptop Table inside the room. Sufficient electric plug points will make gadget savvy people comfortable. Service was moderate to us and may be poor depending on the occupancy of the rooms. Restaurant service was not that very satisfactory. Indian food was delicious but Chinese was horrible. Manager and other staffs were courteous. Overall this is a very good place to stay in that location for a short vacation.
Unfortunate we could not stay for long
KS Ron 14/06/2017 07:11We just spent one night in this resort and left in the morning after our breakfast.
Located away from the bustling crowd, this resort is also closer to Gorumara National Park and one can try his luck to locate to Rhinos, leopards, and jackals. Also, a small river is nearby.
The resort also has a small swimming pool and a gym. It was drizzling in the evening and we could not explore much.
The food was very tasty and we enjoyed both our dinner as well as breakfast.

Nice resort
Mainak1on 19/04/2017 20:26Nice resort in Gorumara. Well maintained, spacious rooms with balcony, sitting where with the morning cup of tea finds you amidst trees and birds, under an open sky and before an open vista. I agree with an earlier reviewer that if you don't have your own vehicle, you may find the trip a bit uncomfortable and expensive. Our tour to the Chapramari viewpoint was organized by the resort which had cost us Rs. 600 per head in a separate vehicle than ours. We could find one rhino, five bisons with a kid, two wild boars, two peacocks, a few monkeys and many birds. There are five viewpoints altogether in the area among which the Jatraprasad Watch Tower provides the maximum scope of wildlife viewing, but a trip to that particular watch tower can't be arranged by the resort. Tourists have to reach Jatraprasad View Point and book a trip on their own. Special thanks to Mr. Nandan, the resort manager, for a cordial reception and friendly interaction throughout our stay. The service is prompt and satisfactory. This property is recommended. I also want to keep on records my thanks to the travel arrangement site, 'naturebeyond', who had booked this resort for us.
Fabulous property & super efficient staff.
SubhrajyotiCon 12/04/2017 07:14This definitely is one of the best properties in Gourmara. Spread over 10 acres it houses only 12 rooms which is what a resort should be, all you can see from your room is the flora & fauna surrounding you. The rooms are quite spacious & comfortable equivalent to any four star property with individual geysers, split air-conditioners and the works, the added bonus is that they are quite well maintained. The staff is extremely cordial, warm & hospitable. I would like to mention that Mr. Nandan Chatterjee the Assistant Manager went out of his way to make your stay comfortable & memorable. Highly recommended.
