Pleasant stay
dedestinedon 15/08/2017 15:46April is Spring in Kalimpong, & this resort maintains a back garden & seating area, which was bursting with color. Staff are friendly, though slightly careless. Large, clean, cozy room with garden view, & the city of Kalimpong beyond. Included Breakfast & dinner was decent in quantity, variety as well as taste. Early breakfast was provided on request.

jan228winon 26/06/2017 13:56Hotel is located 25 mins walking distance from the market. Awesome view from the room. Huge room, hot cold water. Staff was friendly and helpful. While checking out they gave us a shawl and traditional good bye. Breakfast was tasty and food was good. Overall value for money.

Mugdha Von 03/06/2017 06:21The proverb correctly suits for describing this hotel. I will write my experience from the beginning. When we entered the hotel we loved the ambiance of the hotel but we were not able to check in since check in was at 1PM and we reached at 12.30. okay, we left that aside...we kept our bags in the reception and went for our half day sightseeing. We came back later in the evening. We were given big nice rooms with beautiful view. Our dinner went well.
Next day our flight was at 1.30 so V were told that breakfast starts by 7.30-8. Assuming that breakfast will start From 7.30 we started to enquire about it in the restaurant. Sadly breakfast was not ready. There was one more lady with us, she complained about this in the reception. We were still waiting outside restaurant to atleast get tea. It's was around 7.45 when our vehicle arrived, which made us hurry so that was the first time we actually made the waiters hurry for our tea and toast atleast. Around this time, the manager comes and starts shouting at my father about the complaints this other lady made. We were just asking for breakfast, nothing else. This manager comes and starts calling my father "pagal"(mad man) and blames us for the complaints other people made. This incident hurt my family's feelings deeply. You promote tourism to attract tourists but if you are to treat them in such a way, how are you going to maintain stability?
I will accept all the miscommunication that happened during this incident, but there was not even one hint of apology on any of the staff's face. They all ganged up against us. You give breakfast late, fine accepted! But there's a way to talk to tourist. The line which manager said was something like "Sab pagal log Banker idhar ata hai..."
What non sense is this? You do everything according to your timings and decorum, fine accepted! But will you treat your tourists, your guests in such a way? Couldn't you speak with some respect atleast? At even if you did shout, couldn't you apologize atleast? What image should I take about Kalimpong back to my hometown?
You have a great hotel, nice big room, beautiful ambiance. But what about the people? The treatment which we received in the morning was disrespectful. Still, all I wanted was one apology,which sadly we didn't get. How should I recommend this hotel to anyone? Sood Garden retreat, you deeply hurt my family's sentiments by calling a father "pagal" in front of his daughters and wife. With this I end my review. If you want plush big rooms but bad staff, highly recommend this hotel. But if want some respect as tourist I would suggest to look for other options.
