Punching above it's weight
William Gon 21/08/2017 13:07Before deciding to book the Victorian house I like many other before me read many reviews here on TripAdvisor!
I value the honest and fair opinion of my fellow travellers.
I had read extremely harsh horror reviews and thought OMG!
Others gave fair reviews and so I decided to throw caution to the wind and try the place out. Let's begin
On arrival i was told my room wouldn't be ready for another half an hour! No big deal.
The woman at the reception was very friendly I think she was the manageress. So far no complaints!
The Victorian house is indeed very run down and for the rates that they're charging it's really not good enough. The cleaning staff didn't seem interested in keeping the hotel clean and it was very much half a job!
Breakfast was edible but only just. The coffee was bloody awful!
At most this is a very poor bed n breakfast and not much to do with the word hotel!
Most week nights the noise of the local drunks can be he heard in the hotel room. At around eleven pm
Even for Glasgow standards it was awfully loud!
If you've come to Glasgow for a night on the town and al you need is a room To crash in then it's bearable! Apart from that avoid
Great little hotel within 10 minutes of the city centre
Matthew Con 14/08/2017 12:10Nice hotel just a short walk from Sauchiehall Street. My room was basic but clean and comfortable and the breakfast each morning was fantastic. I would definitely return here next time I'm in Glasgow. What's more, I had booked a room with a shared bathroom, but on arrival was told I had been upgraded to a room with a private bathroom for no extra cost. Many thanks!
Good Value For Money - Clean - Hot & Cold Breakfast
1986_Freedomon 08/08/2017 10:23The hotel is well located, 10 minutes away from the centre. It has a fairly steep stepped entrance and stairway to the rooms.
The bed linen was spotless and the bathroom was very clean as were the towels.
The room was warm, with TV, kettle and plenty of tea/coffee, milk and sugar.
Excellent traditional breakfast.
Would go back again!
Hostel not hotel do not waste your money absolutely filthy
debbiemarkon 06/08/2017 16:25We booked here by reading some of the reviews which made it sound very quaint & cosy & in the centre of Glasgow & it was the only rooms left in Glasgow as we were going to see celine Dion at the hydro it cost us £198 for 2 double rooms which we found rather expensive but thought for that price would be worth it.......my god were we mistaken it can only be described as a hostel it is absolutely filthy with thread bare carpets filthy rooms everything about this place is terrible I would have rather drove to Glasgow & drove home to Newcastle on the same night had we knew what we were going to we asked for our well earned money back & were more or less ignored by the rude receptionist who was clearly not surprised by our disgust or apologetic in any way the breakfast is a free for all of greasy slop so we had toast as we could make this our self & knew where & who had touched it all in all please listen to the reviews & don't take the risk thinking it's a few moaning customers I write many reviews & it saddens me to come across a place like this in this day & age you have been warned
Very basic hotel
Elis Ton 04/08/2017 09:39Very basic. It is OK, but just very basic and in need of some TLC.
The entrance to the hotel has four flights of steep steps without a handrail.
The greeting from the reception was non-existent.
Parking is available on the streets around, but using a ticket system where the day is split into three sections costing £2 per section.
We parked in a Multi Storey down the hill from Tuesday to Wednesday morning at a cost of £16.50 then moved the car to outside the hotel @ £6 per day.
The breakfast is ok, but served in a very noisy room without any natural daylight and with plastic flowers on the table.
In our opinion, a difficult place to access with luggage.
It is ok, but with hindsight it would be easier to have stayed in Premier Inn.
