What People are saying

Much room for improvement

U1951LYdavidon 05/03/2017 19:40

Pros: Good location, spacious apartments, good wifi, sufficient kitchen supplies, friendly staff at reception.

Cons: The whole place and everything in it is dated, my apartment could not be properly heated and I was freezing every night (the electrical heater in the room is tiny and by no means sufficient to heat a whole bloody apartment - whoever had the idea to install this useless heater wasn't thinking or enjoys freezing). The walls are like paper - you can even hear conversations next door (luckily I had earplugs). During the 6 days I stayed here, the room was not cleaned a single time.

Verdict:

Unless they make it cheaper or give it a major overhaul, this place just isn't worth the money (paid 70 pounds a night for a studio). Not even the location justifies the price.

Very dated

Pro's

Very friendly staff
Quiet location in a very nice side street.
Plenty of free parking outside.
Top floor flat very spacious.
Good value for money.
Very quiet with no noise

Con's
Decor and furniture very dated. It felt like being in an old folks home.
The blinds in the bedrooms were very light and didn't go to the top of the window so very light and impossible to lay in the morning.
One of the radiators in one of the bedrooms didn't work so it was very cold combined with very thin duvets.

Would I stay there again. No

So disappointing would not go again.

Myself and my family stayed here for 1 night. We were going to book 2 thank god we didn't! First impressions of the hall dated but unique. The room however was absolutely terrible. We stayed in a studio apartment.
When we arrived we felt like we had been transported to the 50's and not in a good way. Terribly dated old furniture apart from the sofa (which had seen better days) a boiler older than myself. Lamps that did not work. 1 glass! A few bowls and a few forks? For a self servicing apartment it was ridiculous. The microwave wouldn't have lasted if I had decided to make a meal there.
The boiler itself was so loud that even with the kitchen door closed we couldn't get any sleep.

The tea and coffee were not in packages they were just taken out of a box and dumped in a container. The height of uncleanliness. Who knows who's touched them or how long they have been there for!

The shower had pubic hair all over the walls. The toilet wasn't clean. For somewhere so 'upmarket' I expected a lot better.

The good things about this place. The location is beautiful and near to the centre with lots of transport everywhere. The maintenance/night porter- the night we stayed the upstairs guests had been drinking and we're fighting with each other this lasted over 2 hours before I went to see the night porter. He went up and explained that I had a terrified 4 year old down stairs and thankfully (apart from
One of there friends screaming in the street and banging on the door) it was quiet enough. He was also happy to move me to another room if I so wished. We didn't but it was very nice of him.

We won't return to this establishment considering what we can get cheaper and better elsewhere like we did the night before and the night after.

Lack of sleep/ proper food the next day as we were unable to even have a hot drink, completely ruined the next day and placed all of us in a bad mood.

We wouldn't return here especially not at the prices they hold. All in all very disappointing apart from a few minor things.

4 bedroom apartment in Bowmont Terrace not up to an acceptable standard

mohamilton47on 19/09/2016 22:34

There were 7 of us in this apartment for 2 nights and there was a shortage of dishes ,cutlery, glasses, no hand towel for the kitchen . A spare hand towel for the bathroom would not have gone amiss.
Kitchen - there was no oven glove, no teapot. The maintenance man very kindly went back to the office and bring more dishes but could not find any glasses and when we phoned the office the next day the staff there were very unhelpful and we still were short of glasses and had a broken toaster.
No tray to heat ready meals in the oven. For 7 people to eat at the dining table there were 6 seats 5 place mats and 3 coasters!
Bedrooms -- No mirrors in 2 bedrooms, no shade on main light in 1 bedroom.
No bulb in main light in lounge. No apparent lead to play a dvd on the tv.
I go self catering up north every year and have never experienced such an ill equipped property .
I know the vestibule is a communal entrance but first impressions walking in were truly appalling , so I think some effort could be made to improve the appearance considering the price paid for the accommodation

VERY DEEPLY DISAPPOINTING

Wonderful building, wonderful setting, friendly staff, TERRIBLE flat. The top floor apartment is very dark, shabby, and, with the exception of the sitting room (massive TV, large dark, empty furniture) extremely cheaply fitted in the manner of a student flat. It is also in poor repair: sofa ripped, thin stained carpets, windows falling apart and unclosable (goodness knows what it’s like in winter) and bare walls. Noisy, antiquated bathroom fans, filthy skylights and a glass wall looking out onto the communal stair meaning little to no privacy. Poor vertical soundproofing meant late night noise from the flat below. A hugely disappointing end to the holiday. Do not stay here, or at least avoid this flat.
