What a Lucky find
PLODSon 14/08/2017 10:17We stumbled across this pub and were wonderfully pleased. it was warm and noisy so we found a table in the bar for food. The menu has all the classics plus some unusual options. I went for the cod and chips which was excellent with lovely light crispy batter and chunky chips served with mushy peas and tartar sauce in a pot instead of those horrid plastic sachets and my husband had the Rock-a-fella, oysters served in their shell with a big prawn on the top in a cheese and bacon sauce. Delicious.
A live artist set up then played a great selection of music later so all in all a fabulous night.
Not the normal 5* food!
Sarah Ton 08/08/2017 03:19Haven't been for about 6 months so thought I'd take the parents for a carvery!! They had ploughmans, in which no butter was supplied and I had the carvery. Had to wait over half an hour for my veggie accompaniment and when I recieved it I was told it had been on the hot plate as the previous waitress forgot when bringing out the ploughmans. Needless to say they were cold but I'd already practically finished my roast when they were brought out. Also I found the food quite over cooked which I've never had before there....it left me very disappointed compared to previous visits.
Also there seems to be a bit of a wasp problem in the garden....obviously can't be helped but maybe a little warning to customers wouldn't go a miss as I had 3 deciding to take a swim in my drink 😂😂
Ideal location for the area.
pat1010bridgwateron 07/08/2017 17:57Stayed two nights in the T'Gallants "annexe" to the main pub. Very clean and neat room, if somewhat compact. However it is an older building, and had everything that we needed including a lovely view of the village and picturesque harbour. Had evening meal on 1st night - all very good (scallop and prawn Rockefellar has to be tried). The staff were very friendly and helpful and atmosphere was very good. Obviously a popular pub. The friend travelling with me was over from Australia and wanted a pretty Cornish village, offering character and good food - we definitely chose the right place to stay! . Would always recommend to those visiting this charming village of Charlestown. .
