What People are saying

Great hotel and wonderful location

Matt Hon 14/08/2017 17:29

Returned last month from a wonderful family holiday here with our teenage daughters. It’s a fantastic location with great views, a good atmosphere and lovely staff – I must mention Maloud and Alibar as these guys helped make it a really special two weeks.

We had a sea view room on the first floor with air conditioning and were very happy with the accommodation (although as mentioned in some previous reviews the bathroom waste could emit some rather nasty smells so I think there may be some drainage issues), the pool was lovely and cleaned daily and we always managed to get sunbeds either by the pool or on the grass at the back of the hotel – no parasols though but we just bought our own locally. The only thing that let the pool/bar area down were the toilets/showers which were in need of refurbishment and not up to the same standard as the rest of the hotel.

We also visited the two sister hotels on the island (Punta Prima and Cala Galdana) for lunch (you can eat there as well – handy if you’re all inclusive) but were always pleased to get back to Tramontana – it’s defiantly got the best location. We were also impressed with the verity of food on offer and the different drinks/cocktails.

Thanks again to all the staff and we hope to return in the future.

Quiet little gem of a place (even in August!)

MARCIA Don 13/08/2017 18:07

Had a lovely stay here in August with our two children (8 and 12). There are many positives to list. Firstly, I am a food snob and have always been reluctant to go all inclusive as I've assumed the food would be poor quality. This cannot be said of Tramontana. Yes, as some people have said the choices can be a bit repetitive, but the food quality and hygiene were excellent. Very good food, not exciting (though the tapas night was first class) but done to a very good standard and there is always plenty of choice both for adults and kids (one of mine only had bread and chips and about 10 different desserts each day but he was happy). I ate lots of seafood and didn't get any sort of upset tummy (I say this as mussels, clams etc can be risky things to eat if not handled properly but I was very confident of the food hygiene standards in the restaurant).

The hotel and pool area was very quiet for August - some of the bigger resorts stress me out, but this was very relaxing without being boring and the view from our balcony was stunning (get a sea view if you can). We also really liked the fact that there were quite a few Spanish people staying there and the area itself was very Spanish rather than feeling like some English holidaymaker enclave. The staff are lovely and friendly, though a lot of them don't speak much English, and were always smiling,

A word on the weather, we had 5 days over 30-35 degrees but then one day of a fierce cold wind and rain. Even if the weather forecast looks 'scorchio' do take a cardie and a rain mac as the Northern part of Menorca does get occasional fierce weather even in August.

The resort centre is quite a hike on a hot day so if you don't plan to get a car, then bear this in mind. It is, however, a very short walk from a glorious unspoilt beach and you can also pay to use the splash park at the Carema hotel (though I think this is better for younger children, not much there for my 12 year old), You are also close to a functional supermarket.

On the critical side, the hotel rooms are a little tired and could do with some updating. We did have a funny drain smell in our bathroom and some of the safety standards would worry me if I had younger children. Also as everyone has mentioned this is not a place for people with difficulty getting up and down stairs. Also, if you book with Skytours you'll get no information or help from a rep even though they present themselves as Thomson/TUI. Although it's a relief not to be met at the airport by some jolly 20 year old trying to flog you overpriced excursions and telling you to stay out of the sun and buy bottled water, it was a little disorientating to be left at the hotel with no information at all and we felt a little bit 'dumped'. Makes we wonder if anyone interested in this hotel might be better off trying to negotiate an independent package directly with the hotel as not sure TUI do anything very much for their money that I can see.

Despite the few niggles we had a super family holiday here and I'd definitely return if the price was right. The deal we had was very well priced for August and we enjoyed being all inclusive there (despite thinking we'd miss the experience of dining out). Came home feeling like we'd had a lovely relaxing holiday.

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel very clean and well kept. Staff generally couldn't do enough for you and were very polite cheerful and helpful. The views are amazing also. Very quiet and relaxed. Deffinatley not suitable for people with walking difficulties as many steps, hills and cliffs. If going in the hot season an air conditioned room is a must. Very quiet island in general not for those looks good for plenty to do and see. Fantastic place for relaxing in a pleasant clean environment with beautiful scenery.

This is the most perfectly placed hotel

Gloyneron 05/08/2017 14:02

I am almost reluctant to say how perfect this place is for fear of "giving the game away", but I feel that if you want a quite, getaway, that feels secluded but safe with spectacular views and the most impressive diving, snorkelling and swimming, then I feel I must continue

We returned from Tramontana Park 5 days ago and I still can't shake the holiday blues it has left me with!!

We travelled as a family of 4, myself, my husband, son (12) and daughter (13)

We arrived mid morning and our 2 bed apartment was ready for us to take our luggage straight to it. We were on the second floor, in one of the 2 apartments above reception and it was lovely, with the most spectacular panoramic view.

As we had a 2 bed, it meant that our living space felt very spacious (no kids sleeping on the sofas) - we did initially think that the bedroom storage was a bit limited, but to be honest its not different to many of the hotels, claiming to be 4* and family friendly that we've encountered before.

We had a little kitchenette, which was quite adequate, except we did not have a kettle nor any crockery, but the fridge was good to keep our bottles of water cool. The lack of kitchen equipment was possibly because we were "all inclusive" and to be honest, other than it would have been nice to have had a coffee first thing, we really didn't miss any of these things

I have read in some reviews that their bathrooms were small.....well i am either used to VERY small bathrooms or we got lucky, as our bathroom (albeit there was no bath) we had a fabulous walk in shower and 2 basins. We had some storage in here and plenty of room for a washing bin. They were kept exceptionally clean and our towels were replaced everyday, or as we requested. I think the bathroom may have been recently refurbished as the tiles both on the wall and the floor looked new.
We had ceiling fans in both of the bedrooms and a very efficient AirCon system in the living area.
YES the beds were hard, but to be honest, I don't mind this at all and we all slept very well indeed.

The restaurant was fabulous. It was kept fabulously clean and there were always lots of hard working staff around to assist you.
The food was literally lovely and served as a hot and cold buffet with so much to choose from. No it wasn't labelled but I don't understand why this is a problem, if it looks nice, try it, if you don't like it.....get something else but the choice was fantastic. Plenty of delicious meat to try for my carnivores, along with fresh bread, salad and fruit. There was also rice and pasta dishes to select each and every meal time. Saturday night there was a barbecue on the outside dining terrace which was NEVER too full despite being quite small. We always found a seat for "pre-dinner drinkies" ;)
Oh and breakfast......delicious!

Because the restaurant was quite small there was not that awful background noise of clattering cutlery and crockery, which I have noticed in hotels that are much larger. I know it can't be helped but it was so nice to feel like you were in a restaurant, and not a cafeteria......although, and this was/is my only grippe.....they played the radio in the the bar, and because the bar is open plan with the restaurant, I got to hear "hot hits", which was ok, but I didn't think was necessary. (miserable comment over)

There were only 2 self-serve drinks dispensers, juice/water and tea/coffee. All other drinks had to be requested at the bar. My husband was impressed to see that his "all inclusive" beer was served from the same tap as the beer ordered by customers paying for their drinks - which is not always the case - this impressed him muchly! ALSO, this is the only place we have stayed where "all inclusive" guests are entrusted with a bottle of wine with their meal, instead of continuously returning to the bar...fantastic!

There was NOT a lively pool scene with constant hotel entertainment staff pestering you and showing off all day. Nor was there entertainment every night. Just 3 nights a week and all were singers or musicians that did display talent and weren't at all cringey.
All in all, yes I can see why it has been rated as a 3* but it could possibly go up to a 4 with very little effort, however, would we want this gorgeous little place to change? Not really. I for one can do without the annoying "water-polo" and "aqua-Fit" being called out every 5 minutes and dancing parrots in the evening - and I am quite capable of packing my own beach towels and trying buffet food without having a label attached

I have not mentioned the area - I can only say that if you want stoney coves to snorkel around, a sandy beach on which to sit on and swim around. If you dive, you have many places to chose from ..... simple pleasures are a plenty and can not be expressed in words how spectacularly gorgeous and unspoilt they are

On 2 occasions my daughter and I walked into the harbour village, which was about 3K and took about 40 mins. We did this on a cooler morning and we found some lovely little shops and as it was a Wednesday, there was a street market. No shops full of fake designer gear, just some shops with lovely hand made bits and pieces, some fashion and yes, a few gimmicky fridge magnet and t-shirts (but who doesn't love a souvenir fridge magnet?!)

Finally, the staff.....nothing else to say except clearly hard working, happy, cheery and thoroughly helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. I really don't want to name a few as that wouldn't be fair as they all had their intrinsic roles to play in making this hotel a beautifully charming place to stay whilst enjoying the best of the area

I really don't know what to add. Other that whilst snorkelling I encountered an Octopus! Honestly, I was so excited.

I really hope I haven't missed anything out.....Will we be retuning? Too right we will! July 2018 can't come soon enough!
