We have been to Thekkady for a three day trip in the end of April and it has been a nice stay at Tranquilou homestay. We were 8 ppl so we have taken 4 rooms. Rooms were maintained good and the host was very friendly. Weather wasn't that much good as our trip was during off season. Below are some points about the homestay and Thekkady.

Homestay:
==> Rent is affordable (only if you contact the host directly) and breakfast is complementary (they provide only idly for breakfast).
==> Lunch and Dinner should be arranged by yourself. They can arrange lunch/dinner based on our request and availability of servants. So plan accordingly.
==> Rooms are good and with moderate space.
==> 24/7 hot water facility.
==> No power backup.
==> Maximum of five cars can be parked.

Thekkady:
==> Located near Kumily (1.5 kms) and 24 kms from Kambam (cumbum).
==> Moderate weather during off season (average of 25-27 Celsius).
==> Very less attractions compared to other hill stations.
==> Must visit Vagamon, Parundhumpara and elephant safari.
==> Activities like Jungle safari, trekking, hiking are available at Periyar reserved forest. Make sure to arrange a very good guide for trekking and hiking.
==> Please don't choose a Jungle safari unless you have a very good SUV or MUV. FYKI - no chance of animal sight except elephants and monkeys & that too if you are lucky.
==> Private drivers approach you for a full day jungle safari in their jeep and that is based on packages. They charge 1250/head and 2200 for jeep. It includes breakfast, lunch and boating. Before safari, they lure you about sight seeing, animals, etc,.but you could realize only after the safari. A guy named Binsad approaches you directly @ Tranquilou so please be aware of this. A complete vain attempt.

When I arrived in Kumily I only had a vague plan of going trecking in the wildlife sanctuary. Just around the corner from the bus stop I met Fartheesh who took me to Tranquilou before helping organise all activities around my stay.
The place has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and my room was spacious, light and clean and had hot water which made a nice change. The homestay is situated about 15 minutes' walk from Kumily centre, so it is easy to get there but at the same time you are far enough away to escape the noise and dirt.
Fartheesh then helped me organise a somewhat rushed day trip to Cochin as well as a 2D1N trek in the wildlife reserve and also offered to book my onward travel but I then changed my plans. Without his help this would have been a lot more difficult!
I would definitely highly recommend Tranquilou to anyone visiting this area.

Really good place to stay! Super helpful staff, and very nice rooms. Our room was very clean, and outside you could totally just relax and Read a Good Book. Close to the city and the park as well.

Rooms are very clean, prices are good and place is beautiful. People from Tranquilou are very warm and happy:) This place is also very calm and has green area around. Men (chief i think so;) is also a good guide:)

Excellent stay at the home stay ! Nazar and Sarah were such sweethearts and the locations , rooms and service were perfect for my needs ! Do try out their home made fish curry to get that perfect kerala zing
